The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) notified a drone certification scheme for ensuring minimum safety and quality requirements, because it will boost indigenous manufacturing.
The drone certification scheme was notified under Rule 7 of the liberalized Drone Rules, 2021. The scheme will help in simpler, faster and transparent type-certification of drones.
It will help in growth of drone manufacturing industry in India, along with the liberalised drone rules, production-linked incentive scheme, airspace map, and single window Digital Sky Platform.
It is another step in making India a drone hub of the world by 2030.

GoI Flagship UJALA Scheme Completes 7 Years
The flagship UJALA programme of the Ministry of Power has successfully completed seven years of distributing and selling LED lights in January 2022. Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2015.
UJALA initiative is the world's largest zero-subsidy domestic lighting programme with more than 36.78 crore LEDs distributed across the country.
As on January 5, 2022, 47,778 million (48 billion) kilowatt-hour (kWh) per annum energy was saved. The demand of 9,565 Megawatt (MW) was avoided, along with 386 crore tonnes of reduction in CO2 emissions.

Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi launched the Punjab Government Rozgar Guarantee for Youth (PRAGTY) scheme that promises to generate 1 lakh government jobs each year for youngsters, a development that comes as his government pushes for re-election this year. The scheme was later approved by the Cabinet.

Goa Govt. Approves Policy to Export Rejected Iron Ore
The Goa cabinet approved a policy to permit the export of iron ore dumps, which will allow the resumption of mining activity in the coastal state for the next four to five years.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that 10 to 20 million metric tonnes of the low-grade iron ore was lying at different locations outside the mining leases, which can be exported as a part of the policy.
The state government's policy will regularise mining dumps on government and private lands.

Tamil Nadu CM Launches 'Meendum Manjappai' Scheme
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the 'Meendum Manjappai' scheme to promote the use of cloth bags by the public and discourage the use of plastic bags. This awareness campaign on using 'yellow' cloth bag or 'manjappai' as it is called in Tamil, is aimed at encouraging the people to return to the use of this eco-friendly bag and discard the plastic bags. The state government had enforced a ban on the production, use, storage, distribution, transportation or sale of 14 types of plastics with effect from January 1, 2019.
