Parliamentary Committee recommended to increase in guaranteed days of work from 100 to 150 under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), after observing that, MGNREGA is a last fall-back option for many people in rural areas.
Committee gave recommendations at a time, when job scheme has become a safety net for migrant workers who returned to their villages amid Covid-19 pandemic.
Furthermore, demand for work under this scheme reached an all-time high in financial year 2021-2022.
MGNREGA scheme needs to be revamped, considering the changing times and emerging challenges in light of Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, committee are of view that there is a need to further diversify the nature of works this scheme in such manner that could also propel number of guaranteed working days to at least 150 days.

Anti-conversion Bill Gets Haryana Cabinet Nod
The Haryana cabinet approved the draft for the Haryana Prevention of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Bill, 2022.The draft Bill which will be tabled in the state assembly during the coming Vidhan Sabha session seeks to prohibit religious conversions effected through misrepresentation, force, undue influence, coercion, allurement, marriage or by any other fraudulent means making it an offence.
As per state Home Minister Anil Vij, it is a law against 'Love jihad' is primarily aimed at stopping forced religious conversions. 'Love jihad' is a term used by right-wing activists to describe marital relationships between Muslim men and Hindu women, though the courts and the Union government do not officially recognise the term.

Govt. Decides to Continue the Scheme of Rashtriya Yuva Sashaktikaran Karyakram for another 5 Years
The Central Government decided to continue the Scheme of "Rashtriya Yuva Sashaktikaran Karyakram, RYSK for another five years from 2021 -22 to 2025-26 with an outlay of over Rs. 2,710 crore. The decision was taken with a view to achieving the objectives of developing the personality and leadership qualities of the youth and to engage them in nation building activities.
The Rashtriya Yuva Sashaktikaran Karyakram Scheme is the flagship Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The Scheme beneficiaries are the youth in the age-group of 15 to 29 years, in line with the definition of 'youth' in the National Youth Policy, 2014.

Rahul Gandhi Launches Welfare Scheme for Farm Labourers
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a financial assistance scheme of the Chhattisgarh government for landless labourers of rural areas with around 3.55 lakh beneficiaries instantly receiving Rs. 2,000 each in their bank accounts as the first installment under the plan.
Rahul Gandhi launched 'Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana' at a function organised in Science College Ground in Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur. The Lok Sabha MP also launched 'Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club' scheme' at the function and distributed financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to its beneficiaries.
Under the 'Rajiv Gandhi Bhoomihin Krishi Majdoor Nyay Yojana', registered labourers in rural areas who do not possess agricultural land will be given financial assistance of Rs. 6,000 per year in three installments. The first installment of Rs. 2,000 was disbursed to beneficiaries at the function.

Govt. Extends ECLGS till March 2023; Includes Hospitality Sector
The Centre extended the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) by one year to March 2023, and allowed the hospitality sector to avail the benefit of the credit guarantee scheme to help small businesses mitigate the impact of the pandemic.
As the hospitality and related services are yet to regain their pre-pandemic level of business, the guarantee cover has been expanded by Rs. 50,000 crore taking the total cover to Rs. 5 trillion, with the additional amount earmarked exclusively for the hospitality and related enterprises.
The ECLGS has provided much-needed additional credit to more than 130 lakh MSMEs. This has helped them mitigate the adverse impact of the pandemic.
