Teachers' Day (India)

Teacher's Day in India is celebrated every year on September 5 with respect and enthusiasm. This special day marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a respected scholar, philosopher, and India's second President. Dr. Radhakrishnan believed strongly in the importance of education and the vital role teachers play in shaping the future. Teacher's Day 2024 honours the dedication and contribution of educators to society.
The history of Teacher's Day in India is closely tied to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was India's second President and a distinguished educator. When Dr. Radhakrishnan's students wanted to celebrate his birthday on September 5, 1962, he suggested that the day should be dedicated to honouring all teachers instead. Since then, September 5 has been celebrated as Teacher's Day across India, recognising the significant impact teachers have on shaping the future of the nation.
Teacher's Day 2024 is centered around the theme 'Empowering Educators for a Sustainable Future'. This theme highlights the crucial role of teachers in shaping a generation that is environmentally aware, socially responsible, and ready to face future challenges.

International Day of Charity

International Day of Charity is celebrated globally on September 5 of each year. This unique day serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of kindness, generosity and charitable efforts to raise awareness and provide a platform for charities worldwide to decrease poverty, assist vulnerable communities, and encourage social solidarity.
The International Day of Charity was founded with an objective of encouraging NGOs, stakeholders, policymakers, and other charitable organisations to help all the poor people across the world through charitable acts.
September 5 was chosen as the date for International Day of Charity to commemorate the death anniversary of Nobel Prize laureate Mother Teresa of Kolkata, India.

7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2024

The 7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah was launched today at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, marking a significant step towards enhancing nutrition awareness and well-being across the nation. The event featured prominent figures such as Union Minister Smt. Annpurna Devi, Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, and Gujarat's Minister of Women and Child Development Smt. Bhanuben Babariya, alongside senior officials from both the Government of India and the State Government of Gujarat.

World Coconut Day 2024

World Coconut Day (WCD), observed annually on September 2nd, emphasizes the importance of coconuts in our lives and promotes sustainable farming practices.
The day is dedicated to raising awareness about the various uses of coconuts and encouraging their global consumption.
The theme of WCD 2024 is "Coconut for a Circular Economy: Building Partnership for Maximum Value."
World Coconut Day, first observed in 2009, was established by the International Coconut Community, a UNESCAP intergovernmental organisation.
The ICC, representing 21 coconut-producing countries, established September 2nd for World Coconut Day to mark its 1969 founding and India is a founding member. The ICC Secretariat is based in Jakarta, Indonesia. ICC till 2018 was known as the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community.

World Coconut Day

Celebrated annually on September 2, World Coconut Day highlights the significance of coconut in our lives and promotes sustainable farming practices. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the diverse uses of coconuts and encouraging their consumption worldwide.
World Coconut Day, first celebrated in 2009, was established by the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community (APCC), an intergovernmental organisation under the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
The APCC, representing 19 coconut-producing countries in the Asia-Pacific region, chose September 2 for this annual observance to commemorate the organisation's founding in 1969. Each year, the International Coconut Community sets a theme for the day which aims at highlighting the importance and health benefits related to coconuts.
The theme for this year's (2024) World Coconut Day is 'Coconut for a Circular Economy: Building Partnership for Maximum Value', which focuses on promoting sustainability and partnerships in the coconut industry.

National Nutrition Week

National Nutrition Week in India is observed from September 1 to 7 every year. This week provides a platform for various health-related activities and campaigns aimed at improving the nutritional status of the population. During this period, the government, non-governmental organisations, healthcare professionals, and educational institutions organise events and programs to spread awareness about the importance of nutrition.
In India, the Ministry of Women and Child Development started observing National Nutrition Week in 1982. According to the Press Information Bureau India, "National Nutrition Week (1-7 September), initiated by the Food and Nutrition Board in 1982, is an annual event of immense significance.
The theme for National Nutrition Week 2024 is 'Nutritious Diets for Everyone'.

Hari Merdeka (Malaysia National Day)

Malaysia Independence Day, also known as the Merdeka Day, is celebrated on August 31 every year.
This year's (2024) event marked His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim's first attendance at the National Day since he was installed as the 17th King of Malaysia in July.
The theme for National Day 2024 is 'Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka'.
