Former Odisha Minister and Veteran BJD Leader Damodar Rout Passes Away
Former Odisha minister and veteran Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Damodar Rout passed away at the age of 82.
Rout, a seven-time MLA, was actively involved in electoral politics from the 70s to 2019 and had served in the Cabinet of Naveen Patnaik and his father Biju Patnaik. He also courted a series of controversies during his career, creating frequent moments of discomfort for the government, for which he had also faced disciplinary action.
Elected to the state Assembly five times from Ersama and twice from Paradeep, both in Jagatsinghpur district, Rout was expelled from BJD in September 2018 for anti-party activities.

Former Pakistan Test Captain Saeed Ahmed Dies
Saeed Ahmed, the former Pakistan Test captain and a dashing batsman of his time, passed away. He was 86.
Ahmed played 41 Test matches, scoring 2,991 runs with five centuries and 16 half-centuries. He also took 22 wickets with his off-spin bowling.
Ahmed made his Test debut against the West Indies during the famous drawn Bridgetown Test in 1958 when he was 20 and played his last Test for Pakistan in Melbourne against Australia during the 1972-73 tour.
He was Pakistan's sixth Test captain and replaced Muhammad as skipper of the side during England's tour of Pakistan in 1969. He only led Pakistan for three Tests and all were drawn.

Renowned Rabindra Sangeet Singer Sadi Mohammad Passes Away
Sadi Mohammad, a legendary Bangladeshi Rabindra Sangeet singer, passed away at the age of 70.
Mohammad completed his bachelor's and master's in Rabindra Sangeet from the Visva-Bharati University.
In 2007, Mohammad debuted as a music composer with the album "Amakey Khujey Pabey Bhorer Shishirey".
He released two more albums: "Srabon Akashey" in 2009 and "Sharthok Janom Amar" in 2012.
Mohammad served as the director of the organization Rabi Raag.
In 2017, Mohammad was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Channel i.
He received the Rabindra Award from the Bangla Academy in 2025.

Admiral Laxminarayan Ramdas, Former Indian Navy Chief, Dies
Admiral Laxminarayan Ramdas, the former Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy (1990-1993), passed away at the age of 90. His demise marks the end of an era in the Indian armed forces, leaving behind a legacy of valour, integrity, and unwavering commitment to principles.
He joined the Armed Forces Academy in Dehradun in 1949 and was commissioned in the Indian Navy in September 1953 as a communications specialist.
