London Ranks Best City for Students: QS Best Student Cities Ranking 2023

In the QS Best Student Cities Ranking 2023, London emerged as the best city for students looking to study abroad in terms of affordability, student facilities, and university standard among other factors. Seoul and Munich were at second place followed by Zurich and Melbourne in fourth and fifth places, respectively.
India's highest-ranked student city was Mumbai at 103 spot which scored for affordability but struggled with student mix and desirability. It's followed by Bengaluru at 114 ranks. Chennai and Delhi have made their entries to the list this year at 125 and 129, respectively.

UK Announces 75 Scholarships for Indian Students on 75th Year of Independence

The United Kingdom government has announced a partnership with leading businesses in India to offer 75 fully funded scholarships for Indian students to study in the UK from September, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of India's independence. Additionally, the British Council in India is offering around 18 scholarships for women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) covering over 12,000 courses across more than 150 UK universities.
The programmes on offer include Chevening scholarships for a one-year Master's programme, with the opportunity to study any subject at a UK university.
HSBC, Pearson India, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Sons and Duolingo are among the companies supporting this initiative to celebrate India's 75th year of independence. HSBC India will sponsor 15 scholarships, Pearson India will sponsor two, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Sons and Duolingo will sponsor one each as part of the 75 scholarships.

Busan University of Foreign Studies of South Korea Establishes an India Centre for the Promotion ...

Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS) established an India Centre for the promotion of India-focused activities in the University.
According to a note from the Indian Embassy in Seoul, the Centre will act as a nodal point for India-related events in Busan and serve as a ready resource for students interested in India and to expand academic and cultural cooperation with the University.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Prof. Hong-Koo Kim, President of Busan University of Foreign Studies, India's Ambassador to South Korea, Sripriya Ranganathan, and Amb. Enna Park, Ambassador for International Relations, Busan City Government along with local govt. officials and business leaders.
On this occasion, an MoU to promote cooperation in the field of education & cultural exchange was also signed between Busan University of Foreign Studies and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Embassy of India in Seoul.

Rajasthan's Sikar Highest Performing District in School Education across India, Reveals MoE Gradi...

According to the Union Ministry of Education's Performance Grading Index for Districts (PGI-D), Rajasthan's Sikar was the highest performing district in school education followed by Jhunjhunu and Jaipur. The three districts figured in the 'Utkarsh' category (scoring 81-90 per cent on a scale of 100) with Junjhunu scoring the maximum (236 out of 290) in learning outcomes.
Also, in the second grade 'Ati-uttam', Rajasthan was significantly ahead of the second and third top states having 24 of its districts in this category.
The other states whose districts performed best in the latest index released by the Ministry of Education (MoE) on Monday are Punjab with 14 districts in 'Ati-uttam' grade (scoring 71-80 per cent on a scale of 100) followed by Gujarat and Kerala with each having 13 districts in this category.

CBSE, UNICEF, YuWaah Join Hands to Promote Skill-based Learning

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) joined hands with UNICEF and YuWaah to work together on life skills development, career guidance, as well as enabling access and engagement of students in volunteering opportunities.
Through this partnership, the organisations will now roll-out the Passport to Earning (P2E) initiative for CBSE students, wherein they will be upskilled with key 21st century skills mapped to CBSE's employability skills curriculum. On the basis of this pilot run, the initiative will then be extended to students all over the country, in addition to teacher training and capacity building to enable the same.
This initiative has been launched in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) and CBSE's ongoing initiative of Handbook on 21st Century Skills and Employability Skills coursework. Experts wish to move away from rote learning and promote the importance of skills in students.

Tamil Nadu CM Launches 'College Dream' to Help Class 12 Students

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin launched a special programme for class 12 students titled 'College Dream'.
This programme was launched under the "I am the first" programme. He made the announcement at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai. The programme falls under Naan Mudhalvan initiative of the Tamil Nadu government and would help students decide their fields after completing class 12.

IIM-Bangalore only Indian Institute in Top 50 Category: QS Global Executive MBA Rankings

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore was the only Indian institute to have featured in the top 50 in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Global Executive MBA Rankings released in June 2022. The institute got the 46th spot on the global list with an overall score of 61.6.
IIM Bangalore was followed by the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad which was slated in the 111-120 group with an overall score of 49.2. Additionally, IIM Kozhikode scored 28 points and was grouped in the 171+ category.
This year, ISB Hyderabad has fallen nearly 10 ranks as it had ranked 92nd last year and 93rd before that. Additionally, IIM Kozhikode seems to have slipped nearly 20 places in the rankings, as compared to last year.

IIT-Hyderabad to Offer MTech in Heritage Science and Technology

Starting from August 2022, IIT Hyderabad (IIT-H) will offer MTech in Heritage Science and Technology with three specialisations. The institute inaugurated a new Department of Heritage Science and Technology (HST). The department was inaugurated by Padma Bhushan Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, best known as the father of India's PARAM series supercomputers.
The online Master's Program in Heritage Science and Technology will be offered in three specialisations that target distinct heritage industries – Technology for Yoga, Indic Language Processing, and Conservation and Reconstruction. The course will be in online mode for 2 years, where the second year is exclusively earmarked for a thesis project with a focus on either research or product development.
