West Bengal Approves Student Credit Card Scheme

  • West Bengal Cabinet approved the "Student Credit Card scheme". Trinamool Congress had promised to launch this scheme in its election manifesto.
  • This scheme will be implemented and launched on June 30, 2021. Under the scheme, student can get a soft loan of up to Rs. 10 lakh with the help of credit card to enroll into higher studies. Loans will be given for higher studies in India as well as abroad. Loans will be given at 4% interest rates. State government would act as guarantor.
  • Students will be provided fifteen years to repay the loan after they get a job.

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani e-launches Agricultural Diversification Scheme-2021

  • Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani e-launched Agricultural Diversification Scheme-2021 benefiting vanbandhu farmers in tribal areas.
  • The scheme will benefit more than 1.26 lakh farmers from 14 tribal districts of the state. Inaugurating the scheme, Mr. Rupani said that the state government is working to make agriculture sustainable and profitable in the tribal areas.
  • Under this scheme tribal farmers will get fertilizer-seed assistance of Rs. 31 crores in which 45 kg of urea, 50 kg of NPK and 50 kg of ammonium sulphate will be provided.
  • Seeds of crops like maize, Bitter Melon (karela), Calabash (dudhi), tomato, millet, etc. are provided under this scheme.
  • He also said that, in order to enable the tribal farmers to cultivate on their own and not to be deprived of water, the state government has undertaken massive works to deliver irrigation water at high altitudes through various lift irrigation schemes in the hilly areas of the tribal district.

Minority Affairs Minister launched "JaanHaiToJahaanHai" Awareness Campaign

  • The Minority Affairs Minister, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi launched a nationwide "JaanHaiToJahaanHai" awareness campaign on Corona vaccination for rural and remote areas. The aim of this campaign is to aware people of the Corona vaccination and to crush rumours and apprehensions related to Corona vaccination. It has been launched by the Ministry of Minority Affairs in association with various socio-educational organizations, NGOs, and Women Self Help Groups.
  • Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi urged members of Central Waqf Council, Maulana Azad Education Foundation, and other social and educational institutions to take part in this awareness campaign. India is running the world's largest Corona vaccination drive.

Odisha Launches Ashirbad Scheme

  • Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched a new scheme -- Ashirbad -- under which those children who lost their parents to Covid-19 in the state will be provided financial assistance on a monthly basis.
  • Children who lost both their parents or the main earning member of the family on or after April 1, 2020, will be eligible to be covered under the scheme.
  • As per the announcement, Rs. 2,500 per month will be provided to the children who have lost both parents to Covid-19 and Rs. 1500 per month to those who have lost a single parent to the virus on or after April 1, 2020.
  • The amount will be transferred to the bank accounts of the guardians/caretakers of such children till they attain the age of 18. The assistance will not be provided in case the child has been adopted.
  • The beneficiaries will be included under the state government's Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana for availing free medical services and central/state food security scheme.

Bihar Government Extends 'Mukhya Mantri Udyaymi Yojana'

  • Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has launched two ambitious schemes christened as the 'Mukhya Mantri Yuva Udyaymi Yojna' and the 'Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyami Yojana. Both the schemes launched to promote entrepreneurship among youth and women of all sections under the state's 'Mukhaya Mantri Udyami Yojana scheme. The schemes were promised by the Chief Minister during the 2020 Bihar elections.
  • Youth and Women-irrespective of caste and creed, wishing to start entrepreneurship, will get a loan of Rs. 10 lakh, in which Rs. 5 lakh would be a grant from the state government and the rest Rs. 5 lakh will come as a loan, refundable in 84 instalments. He also launched a portal on which youth and women from all sections can register themselves for availing of the loan from the government.
