Meri Policy Mere Hath Doorstep Campaign

  • With the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) entering the seventh year of implementation in the upcoming Kharif season, the government announced a new doorstep crop insurance distribution policy known as 'Meri Policy Mere Hath'.
  • The 'Meri Policy Mere Hath' doorstep campaign will be launch to ensure that all farmers are well informed about their land records, policies, and the PMFBY's claim and grievance redressal process.
  • In the upcoming Kharif season which will be beginning in June, the doorstep campaign will be launched in all implementing states.
  • In the month of February 2016, PMFBY was launched with the aim of providing financial assistance to all the farmers who have suffered crop damage or loss from natural disasters. As of February 4, 2022, over 36 million farmer applications have been insured under this scheme with over Rs. 1,07,059 crores in claims paid.

Karnataka Assembly Passes Bills to Hike Salary of CM, Ministers and MLAs

  • The Karnataka Legislative Assembly passed bills enhancing salaries and allowances of Chief Minister, Ministers and legislators.
  • Faced by disruption for the fifth consecutive day, due to protest by Congress MLAs, demanding the sacking of Minister K. S. Eshwarappa over his statement on the national flag, the session was cut short, but not before passing two bills without discussion.
  • Amidst the din, the House passed the two bills- The Karnataka Ministers Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Bill, 2022 and The Karnataka Legislature Salaries, Pensions and Allowances (Amendment) Bill, 2022, and adopted the motion of thanks to Governor's address, without any discussion.

Sixth Anniversary of Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission

  • The 6th Anniversary of the launch of Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission was observed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Mission in 2016 to develop 300 clusters in the country holistically by providing economic, social and physical infrastructure facilities. So far, Rural Development Ministry approved 296 clusters under the Mission.
  • The Mission focuses on cluster-based integrated development through Spatial Planning. Rurban clusters are identified across the country's rural areas showing increasing signs of urbanization. These signs include increase in population density, high levels of non-farm employment, presence of growing economic activities and other socioeconomic parameters. It aims to transform these Rurban clusters by stimulating local economic development, enhancing basic services, and creating well planned Rurban clusters.

PM Modi Inaugurates Gobar-Dhan Bio-CNG Plant in Indore

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Bio CNG Plants will help in making cities clean and pollution-free and the Government is building similar Plants in the next two years in 75 big municipal corporations.
  • The Prime Minister said this after inaugurating Gobar-Dhan (Bio-CNG) Plant in Indore, Madhya Pradesh through video conferencing. He said lakhs of tonnes of garbage has occupied thousands of acres of land. It causes air and water pollution. He added in the second phase of the Swachh Bharat mission work is being done to deal with this problem.
  • Mr. Modi said that as soon as the name of Indore comes, the name of Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar comes first. 

Centre's Doorstep Distribution Drive for Crop Insurance to Start

  • As the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) enters the seventh year of implementation with the upcoming Kharif season, the government said it will launch a doorstep distribution drive to deliver crop insurance policies to farmers.
  • The doorstep campaign 'Meri Policy Mere Hath' aims to ensure all farmers are well aware and equipped with all information on their policies, land records, the process of claim and grievance redressal under the PMFBY, the Agriculture Ministry said.
  • The doorstep campaign will be launched in all implementing states in the upcoming Kharif season beginning June, the ministry said in a statement.
