Kovind Gives Assent to Criminal Procedure (Identification) Act, 2022 and Delhi Municipal Corporat...

President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent to the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Act, 2022. The objective of the Act is to authorize for taking measurements of convicts and other persons for the purposes of identification and investigation in criminal matters and to preserve records. It also provides legal sanction for taking appropriate body measurements of persons who are required to give such measurements which include finger-impressions, palm-print and foot-print impressions, photographs, iris and retina scan, physical, biological samples, and their analysis among others. The new Act has replaced the Identification of Prisoners Act, of 1920.
The President has also given his assent to the Delhi Municipal Corporation ( Amendment) Act,2022. It aimed at unifying the three existing Municipal Corporations of Delhi into one Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

On the sixth day of celebration of Iconic Week to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Ministry of Panchayati Raj organized the National Level Conference on Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs), focusing on Theme 5: Clean & Green Village and Theme 4: Water Sufficient Village, aligned with broader Sustainable Development Goals.
Smt. Vini Mahajan, Secretary, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti shared how India eradicated the open defecation and declared ODF free and is working towards ODF++. She also discussed about Bio-waste energy, Solid-Liquid Waste Management, Grey Water Management etc.

Govt. Launches e-Sanjeevani Tele-consultation Services

Government launched e-Sanjeevani Tele-consultation facility at one lakh centers on the occasion of 4th anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness. Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said, now the common citizens will also be able to take advice from the big doctors of the country. He said, government is strengthening the primary healthcare network with Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre.
More than one lakh 17 thousand Health and Wellness Centre have been operationalized in the country so far.

The country's biggest ever Quiz Contest, Sabka Vikas Maha Quiz was launched. It aims to build awareness amongst citizens about the Government's various schemes and good governance. The first quiz is on Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. The scheme is a pro-poor scheme intended to reduce the challenges encountered by the poor because of disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Sabka Vikas MahaQuiz series" aims to sensitise the participants about the various government schemes and initiatives. The government has been working to ensure basic necessities to all citizens of the country through various programmes and schemes for the holistic welfare of all citizens, especially the poor and marginalised sections of society.

Centre to Continue Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) till March 2026

The Union Cabinet approved a financial outlay of Rs. 5,911 crore for the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) aimed at helping 2.78 lakh rural local bodies achieve sustainable development goals.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs gave its assent for the continuation of the centrally sponsored scheme from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2026 in an effort to boost the governance capabilities of Panchayati Raj institutions (PRIs).
Of the total outlay of Rs. 5,911 crore, the Centre's share is Rs. 3,700 crore and that of states is Rs. 2,211 crore.
The scheme was first approved by the Cabinet in 2018 for implementation from 2018-19 to 2021-22.
