Atal Pension Yojana Enrollments Crossed 4.01 crore by End of March 2022

  • Total enrollments under Atal Pension Yojana, APS, Scheme crossed 4.01 crore in April 2022, out of which more than 99 lakh accounts for this scheme were opened during last financial year. The scheme had seen this tremendous success due to the active participation of all categories of banks.
  • Around 71 per cent of the enrolments done by Public-Sector Banks, 19 per cent by Regional Rural Banks, six per cent by Private Sector Banks and three per cent by Payment and Small Finance Banks. State Bank of India, Indian Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and Central Bank of India achieved their annual targets for this scheme in the Public-Sector Bank category.
  • The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) was launched on 09 May, 2015 to create a universal social security system for all Indians, especially the poor, the under-privileged and the workers in the unorganised sector.

Andhra Govt. to Introduce Cash Transfer Scheme as Alternate to PDS Rice Supply

  • The YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh came out with a direct cash transfer scheme for the consumers who do not want to take rice under the public distribution system from fair price shops.
  • According to state Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao, the scheme would be implemented on a pilot basis in select parts of the state from May. "A survey would be conducted on the implementation of the scheme, and based on the feedback, steps would be taken to extend the scheme across the State.
  • In the first phase, the scheme will be implemented in parts of Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle, Narasapuram, Kakinada and Nandyal districts. As per this system, the government would pay the cash amount to the people in place of their ration quota of rice supplied through fair price shops under the public distribution system.
  • The scheme of direct transfer of cash into the bank accounts of beneficiaries of PDS instead of providing food grains is already being implemented on a pilot basis in the three Union Territories of Chandigarh, Puducherry and urban areas of Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

Govt. to Launch AYUSH Visa for Traditional Medical Tourism, Set up Parks

  • In a bid to boost medical tourism in traditional medicine, India is set to offer special visas for those travelling to the country to avail AYUSH treatment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced at a global business event on AYUSH. Inaugurating the three-day Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit at Mahatma Mandir in Ahmedabad, Modi said that the government will also soon launch an 'AYUSH mark' for standardisation and authentication of quality AYUSH products in the global market.
  • AYUSH, which stands for Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy, also saw the launch of a dedicated portal for the recently formed AYUSH Export Promotion Council. Further, the government is also set to create a network of AYUSH Parks to encourage research and boost indigenous manufacturing of traditional medicinal products.

Ayushman Bharat-Health & Wellness Centre Scheme Marks 4th Anniversary

  • The Union Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya, organised a week-long celebration under the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav", marking the fourth anniversary of Ayushman Bharat- Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs) from April 16 to April 22. The inauguration of the first AB-HWC on 14th April 2018, at Jangla, a serene village in the Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh.
  • The union Health minister addressed the fourth-anniversary celebration of AB-HWCs in a meeting organised virtually, which saw the participation of more than 1 Lakh AB-HWCs, State Health ministers, senior officials of all the States and Union Territories, healthcare workers from various hospitals and development partners.

KVIC Breaks All Previous Records to Create Highest ever Employment under Prime Minister's Employm...

  • Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) broke all previous records to create highest ever employment under Prime Minister's Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) in Financial Year 2021-22.
  • This is for the first time since the launch of the PMEGP Scheme in 2008, that KVIC has established over one lakh new units in a financial year.
  • It's been a year full of historic feats for Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in executing the flagship Prime Minister's Employment Generation Program (PMEGP). With setting up of an unprecedented 1.03 lakh new manufacturing and service units and creation of over 8.25 lakh jobs, PMEGP has emerged as government's most powerful tool of self-sustainability in the year 2021-22, even as the country was under partial lockdown for the first 3 months of the year during the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.

E-DAR Portal to Speed Up Accident Compensation Claims

  • A web portal designed by the government in consultation with insurance companies will provide instant information on road accidents with a few clicks and help accelerate accident compensation claims, bringing relief to victims' families.
  • The Ministry of Roads, Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has developed the portal named 'e-DAR' (e-Detailed Accident Report). Digitalised Detailed Accident Reports (DAR) will be uploaded on the portal for easy access. The web portal will be linked to the Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD). From iRAD, applications to more than 90% of the datasets would be pushed directly to the e-DAR. Stakeholders like the police, road authorities, hospitals, etc., are required to enter very minimal information for the e-DAR forms.
