UP CM Yogi Adityanath Launches 'One District One Sport' Scheme

  • In his mission to promote sports and sportspersons of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched One District One Sport (ODOS) on the lines of the highly successful One District One Product (ODOP) scheme of the government.
  • The scheme serves the two interrelated objectives of the government, including promoting sports culture and keeping the younger generation healthy in the state and providing a platform for sportspersons to nurture their talents and skills in order to take part in prestigious national and international championships and win medals.
  • Under ODOS, one sport will be identified in each of the 75 districts of UP and necessary steps taken to find district-wise sport-specific talents and hone their skills in order to enable them to represent the district, state, national and international level tournaments and championships.

Haryana Govt. Approves New 'AatmaNirbhar Textile Policy'

  • The Haryana Cabinet approved a new AatmaNirbhar Textile Policy 2022-25, which aims to attract investment worth Rs. 4,000 crore and generate 20,0000 new jobs in the state.
  • A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the Council of Ministers held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
  • The new textile policy will supersede the previous Haryana Textile Policy 2019 and it aims to promote value-added textile activities with suitable policy interventions to harness the potential of the entire textile value chain in the state.

Uttarakhand House Passes Stricter Bill against Conversion

  • The Uttarakhand Assembly passed a more stringent anti-conversion Bill that makes unlawful religious conversion in the state a cognizable and non-bailable offence, punishable with imprisonment for a jail-term of at least three years and a maximum 10 years.
  • On the second day of the supplementary Budget session, the House also passed Uttarakhand Public Services (Horizontal Reservation for Women) Bill, 2022, providing 30-per cent horizontal reservation to women in state-owned services.
  • Horizontal reservation can be explained as a quota within a quota. While a vertical reservation applies separately for each group specified under law, horizontal quota is applied separately to each vertical category, and not across the board. So once this law is implemented, 30% of the selected candidates in public service will have to necessarily be women in each vertical quota category, such as categories for SC/ST/OBCs, etc.

Nirogi Haryana Health Scheme

  • The Nirogi Haryana Scheme was launched to provide comprehensive free health check-ups and required medical treatment to beneficiary families.
  • The initial phase of this scheme was launched in District Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula. It would gradually be enrolled in other dispensaries, health and wellness centres in the remote rural areas of the Panchkula district.
  • As many as 51 health facilities in Panchkula district were allocated to enlisted beneficiaries.
  • The beneficiaries of this scheme are divided into six categories based on age – 0 to 6 months, 6 to 59 months, 6 to 18 years, 18 to 40 years, 40 to 60 years and above 80 years.
  • Each of these categories are provided different coloured OPD card, with eight pages each.
  • The enlisted beneficiaries are provided an 'amantran patra' by the ANM or ASHA workers to visit their healthcare facilities on the specified date.
  • The health check-ups under this scheme includes a complete general physical examination, including physical measurements, height, weight, pulse, BP, dental, and eye examination.

Rajasthan Governor Mishra Returns Private University Bills Passed by State Assembly

  • Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra returned separate Bills of three proposed private universities passed by the state assembly, saying that the varsities are being established without following the prescribed rules.
  • The three proposed private universities are Dunes University, Jodhpur; Vyas Vidya Peeth University, Jodhpur; and Saurabh University, Hindaun City, Karauli.
  • Mishra returned the Bills in pursuance of Article 200 of the Constitution and its provisions.

Power Min Launches Scheme to Procure 4,500 MW Electricity Supply for Five Years

  • Ministry of Power launched a scheme for procurement of aggregate power of 4500 MW for five years under SHAKTI Policy. The Ministry said that the scheme will help states that are facing power shortage and help generation plants to increase their capacities.
  • PFC Consulting Limited was designated as the nodal agency. It has invited bids for the supply of 4,500 MW electricity. The supply will commence from April next year (2023).
  • The utilities that have shown interest for the scheme are Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd, Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Ltd, New Delhi Municipal Corporation and Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd.
  • It is for the first time that bidding is being carried out under B(v) of SHAKTI scheme.
  • SHAKTI, or Scheme for Harnessing and Allocating Koyala Transparently in India, was launched in 2018 to provide coal to stressed power units which lack coal supply.
