Civil Aviation Ministry Out with Draft Bill for Simplifying Regulations

  • The civil aviation ministry came out with a draft bill for putting in place a simplified approach for regulations pertaining to the aviation sector.
  • The Draft Aircraft Bill, 2023, was prepared after reviewing the existing Aircraft Act, 1934.
  • As per the preamble of the Draft Aircraft Bill, 2023, it aims to have an Act to make better provisions for regulation and control of the design, manufacture, possession, use, operation, sale, import and export of aircraft and for connected matters.
  • The bill has been issued by the ministry for public consultations for a period of 30 days, according to a communication.

Cabinet Approves Scheme to Boost Grain Storage Capacity in Cooperative Sector

  • The central cabinet approved a scheme to boost the capacity for storage of food grains across the country.
  • The scheme, that will cost Rs. 1 lakh crore, will utilise funds already allocated to other schemes, said Anurag Singh Thakur.
  • The scheme will use cooperatives across India to set up new warehouses, aiding food security and reducing imports.
  • 'The scheme has been dubbed as the 'world's largest grain storage plan in cooperative sector', according to a statement by the Press Information Bureau.

Odisha Government Announces 'Mo Ghara' Housing Scheme

  • In a major relief to economically and socially weaker households, the Naveen Patnaik Government announced the launch of 'Mo Ghara' (My House) to provide credit-linked financial assistance to beneficiaries who face fund crunch to complete or upgrade their houses.
  • The scheme, which coincided with the completion of fourth year in fifth term of Mr. Patnaik, will cover all such families who were left out in the existing housing schemes either due to stringent eligibility criteria or insufficient allocation, and those who had received housing assistance of smaller amount in the past and now want to upgrade or expand their houses.
  • "Under the scheme, a beneficiary can avail housing loan up to Rs. 3 lakh which can be repaid in 10 years excluding one year moratorium period in easy instalments. They can opt for one of the four slabs of loan amount – Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 1.5 lakh, Rs. 2 lakh and Rs. 3 lakh.

Maharashtra Govt's New Financial Scheme for Farmers

  • Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led government introduced a new financial scheme under which over ten million state farmers will be paid Rs. 6,000 annually.
  • The scheme, Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Yojana, was approved at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Eknath Shinde. The CM said that the amount was in addition to Rs. 6,000 paid to farmers in instalments per year by the Centre under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
  • The scheme was announced by Fadnavis when he presented the state Budget for 2023-2024 in March.

Telangana Achieves 100% Coverage of PMJDY

  • Telangana achieved a significant milestone in financial inclusion by attaining 100% coverage of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY). Since the launch of this national mission, the state has made remarkable progress in extending banking services to all sections of the population.
  • Empowering every unbanked adult the PMJDY is a National Mission for Financial Inclusion that aims to provide affordable access to financial services such as banking, savings and deposit accounts, remittance, credit, insurance, and pension. It serves as the foundation stone for people-centric economic initiatives, including Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), COVID-19 financial assistance, PM-KISAN, and increased wages under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA). The primary objective of PMJDY is to ensure that every adult in India has a bank account, facilitating their participation in the formal financial system.

Madhya Pradesh First State to Provide Air Travel for Pilgrims under Mukhyamantri Teerthdarshan Yo...

  • Madhya Pradesh became the first State in India to send elderly people on pilgrimage by air under the Mukhyamantri Teerthdarshan Yojana.
  • The first batch of pilgrims took off from the Bhopal airport to visit Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. The pilgrims include 24 men and eight women.
  • The Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana is one of the flagship schemes of the BJP government in the state.
  • The scheme was introduced in the year 2012. So far, more than 7.80 lakh elderly persons have undertaken pilgrimage by special trains.
