Telangana Develops Somalisa as Tourism Destination
Telangana Tourism opened an air-conditioned two-storeye ferry, and ten three-star cottages in Somalisa, Kollapur, which is located at the brackwaters of Krishna River.
Previouly a Naxal zone, Somalisa, is now being transformed into a world class eco-tourism destination.
MP Tourism Invites Bids for Developing 7 Sites into Tourism Facilities
The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board released a list of land parcels, for which it has invited bids for development into tourism sites and hotels through PPP mode.
The land parcels and properties include Benazir Palace in Bhopal, Sawant Nagar in Takagarh, Madhavgarh Fort, Mehgavan, Patakhali (Nagarbeda) in Khandwa, Juna Kathhivada in Alirajpur and Khapa in Betul.

ABTO Opens Asia Office in Thailand
Association of Buddhist Tour Operators (ABTO) opened its Asian office in Pattaya, Thailand. ABTO also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) for co-operation I the field of travel and tourism, with an aim to promote Buddhist pilgrimage tourism between the two nations.

Lahore-Wagah Train Service Resumes Operation after 22 Years
The shuttle train service between Lahore and Wagah railway station resumed operation after a gap of 22 years.
The train would complete three round trips daily and provide the travelling facility to over 1,000 passengers in three trips. The fare has been fixed at PKR 30.
The service would provide hassle-free commute to hundreds of visitors intending to witness the flag hoisting and lowering ceremony at Wagah or visiting Jallo Park.

In a bid to further boost the corporate travel segment, SATTE 2020, South Asia's leading Travel and Tourism expo partnered with Corporate Travel Community (CTC) to organise Corporate Travel Day on January 9, 2020. The 27th edition of SATTE is set to be organised from January 08 to 10, 2020 at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, Delhi – NCR.
Under this partnership, CTC will organise two power-packed sessions; 'Airline Programmes + NDC education forum' and 'The Accommodation Outlook and Technology Innovations Education Forum'
The Corporate Travel Community is a network of corporate travel buyers and other personnel who manage their organisation's travel portfolios. CTC is part of Informa which under 'Informa Markets' runs hundreds of events and trade shows around the world under more than 550 B2B brands.
The aim of the partnership is to create a platform for the corporate travel segment under South Asia's largest travel and tourism exhibition.

North Korea Opens Mountain Spa, Ski Resort
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un opened a new mountain spa and ski resort that's intended for people to enjoy "high civilisation under socialism" is another example of the country using tourism exemptions in sanctions to build revenue for its broken economy.
Kim cut the ribbon during the ceremonial opening of the Yangdok Hot Spring Cultural Recreation Centre and praised his soldiers for creating a "miracle and prefect edifice" that serves the ruling party's efforts to guide people to modern civilisation.
