All Departing Flyers at IGIA will have to Remove Footwear

Passengers flying out from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) will have to take off their footwear before the mandatory body scan as part of the security check-in procedure starting in April, according to senior officers from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which secures the Delhi airport.
This is because extensive tests conducted on the body scanning machines showed that it did not deliver accurate results below the ankle. The CISF has been testing out the German-made machines since November 2019.

Malaysia Bans Visitors

Malaysia's government announced it will ban travellers from the central Chinese city of Wuhan and other parts of surrounding Hubei province beginning immediately.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Department said Malaysia would stop issuing visas for Chinese travellers from those areas.
Normal visa procedures will resume once the situation returns to normal.
Meanwhile, Germany's Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that his country was considering evacuating its citizens from Wuhan.
A consular team was expected to arrive in Wuhan to provide Germans there with assistance.

Indian Railways to Run 100% on Electricity by 2024

Railways Minister Piyush Goyal said that the Indian Railways is expected to switch entirely to electricity by 2024, as it is already shunting diesel locomotives gradually out of service.
Goyal said at India-Brazil Business Forum that it will be the first railway network in the world to be run fully on electricity. We are very conscious of our responsibility to the environment. We are embarking on rapid electrification of our rail network.

Kerala Tourism's Disabled-Friendly Project Earns UNWTO Special Mention

The Kerala Government announced that the state will make its tourist destinations disabled-friendly by 2021. Now Kerala Tourism's Barrier-Free Tourism Project has won global recognition, as the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) made a special mention as an 'Emerging Global Destination' in the Accessible Destination Awards 2019.
The recognition was for the implementation of the project in the central Kerala district of Thrissur, which thus became India's only destination to win the honour. Kerala has been the first state to work as per the UNWTO guidelines on making tourist destinations disabled-friendly.

Travel Ban Imposed in China's Wuhan

The authorities in Wuhan city in China where the coronavirus originated, have imposed a complete travel ban on local residents, in a bid to curb the spread of the deadly virus.
As per the ban, urban buses, subways, ferries and long-distance passenger transport would be suspended in the city.
Aside from this, flights and trains departing from Wuhan will also be suspended.
So far, the cases of the virus have been detected in the US, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand.

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) announced the signing of a SeleQtions hotel – Pilibhit House in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. This hotel is in partnership with Prasad Heritage Pvt. Ltd.

Indian Railways To Replace Urdu With Sanskrit On Station Signboards In Uttarakhand

The Railway ministry is now doing its bit to promote the use of Sanskrit in Uttarakhand.
Railway officials have decided to replace Urdu language with Sanskrit on all signboards at platforms. The signboards which have names of railway stations written in Hindi, English and Urdu will now be written in Hindi, English and Sanskrit.
The decision, according to sources, has been taken as per provisions of the Railway Manual, which says that names of the railway stations should be written in Hindi, English and in the second language of the state.
