Suresh Chitturi Appointed International Egg Commission Chief

Suresh Chitturi, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of India's leading poultry firm Srinivasa Farms, was appointed as chairman of the International Egg Commission (IEC) for the next two years (2019-2021).
The appointment was made at the IEC Global Leadership Conference in Copenhagen in Denmark.
Suresh Chitturi would be the first chair from Asia in the history of the institution, as he assumes the role as the Chairman of IEC.

Air Marshal HS Arora Appointed IAF Vice Chief

Bhadauria, who is currently Vice Chief of Air Staff, will take over the charge as Chief of Air Staff after his predecessor and the incumbent IAF Chief BS Dhanoa retires on September 30, 2019.
Air Marshal HS Arora was appointed the Vice Chief of Indian Air Force. He succeeds Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria who will take over as the Chief of Air Staff on September 30, 2019.
Meanwhile, Air Marshal B. Suresh was appointed as Western Air Commander of the Air Force. He will succeed Kargil war hero Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar on October 31, 2019.

Bipin Rawat New Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee

Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat took over as the new Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee, succeeding Indian Air Force (IAF) chief, Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa, who retired from service end of September.
The Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC) comprises chiefs of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force and the senior most member is appointed its chairperson.
The Chairman of COSC is tasked with ensuring synergy among the three services and evolves common strategy to deal with external security challenges facing the country.

Bharti Airtel HR Head For India, South Asia Quits With Immediate Effect

Bharti Airtel's chief people officer for India, South Asia, Gautam Anand, has resigned from the mobile phone operator with immediate effect, a little over a year after he was elevated to the role.
Till the time a successor is appointed, the second largest carrier's human resource functions will report directly to Chief Executive Officer Gopal Vittal.

Yogeshwar Dutt and Sandeep Singh Join BJP Ahead Of Haryana Assembly Election

Olympic medallist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, former Indian hockey captain Sandeep Singh and Akali Dal MLA Balkaur Singh joined the BJP amid indications that the saffron party will field them as its candidates in the 21 October, 2019 Haryana Assembly polls.
Inducting them into the party, Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala praised the two sports persons for their contribution to the country and asserted that their presence will help the party in achieving its mission of winning more than 75 seats in the 90-member state Assembly.

Visa Appoints PV Sindhu As Brand Ambassador For Two Years

Payment technology company Visa announced that it has signed up world badminton champion Pusarla Venkata Sindhu (PV Sindhu) as its brand ambassador for two years.
Besides promoting the brand through advertising campaigns, Sindhu has also become an athlete member of Team Visa for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
Team Visa is the company's global athlete support program for assisting athletes who aspire to the Olympic and Paralympic podiums.
Team Visa athletes are selected on the basis of their expected demonstration of strong competitive performance at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, regardless of nationality and background.
Visa will provide these athletes with tools and resources including funding support and financial literacy training.
Since the program began in 2000, Team Visa has supported over 400 Olympic and Paralympic athletes and hopefuls from around the world.

Former French President Jacques Chirac Dies, Aged 86

Former President Jacques Chirac, a political chameleon who dominated French politics for decades in roles ranging from mayor of Paris to the second-longest serving leader of the nation, died at the age of 86.
The lower house of the French parliament interrupted a sitting to hold a minute's silence. President Emmanuel Macron cancelled a public engagement and planned to make a televised address.
Chirac was president from 1995 to 2007. Following in the footsteps of Charles de Gaulle, Chirac tried to elevate France's status as a player on the world stage.
He stirred national pride with his opposition to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Rupa Gurunath Becomes First Female President Of State Unit After Winning TNCA Elections

Rupa Gurunath, daughter of former BCCI chief N Srinivasan, was elected unopposed as president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), making her the first woman to head a state unit of the Indian Board.
Rupa is the wife of Gurunath Meiyappan, who is serving a life ban for his involvement in the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing scandal.
Rupa was elected at the TNCA's 87th Annual General Meeting.

IMF Names Kristalina Georgieva As New Head

Bulgarian economist Kristalina Georgieva has been selected as the new managing director of the International Monetary Fund.
Ms Georgieva, who was previously chief executive of the World Bank, becomes the first person from an emerging economy to lead the IMF.
She will succeed Christine Lagarde, who is leaving to become head of the European Central Bank (ECB).
Ms Georgieva was the only nominee for the job. The 66-year-old economist, the daughter of a civil engineer, studied political economy and sociology at the Karl Marx Higher Institute of Economics in Sofia while Bulgaria was still under communist rule.
She was commissioner in charge of the EU budget before she left to join the World Bank in January 2017.

Rajiva Sinha To Be The New Chief Secretary Of WB

Rajiva Sinha will be the new chief secretary of West Bengal. The present incumbent Malay Kumar De will retire.
Sinha is currently the additional chief secretary to the health and family welfare department.
De, a 1985 batch IAS officer, was appointed the chief secretary in 2017 after the retirement of Basudeb Banerjee.

Nilesh Shah Appointed As New Amfi Chairman

Nilesh Shah, Managing Director of Kotak Asset Management Company (AMC) has been appointed as the new chairman of the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi), with immediate effect.
Amfi, the industry body of SEBI-registered mutual funds, took the decision in its board meeting on September 23, 2019.
Nilesh Shah succeeded Managing Director, and CEO of ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company, Nimesh Shah, who was appointed to the post in 2018.
The body also elected Saurabh Nanavati, Chief Executive Officer, Invesco Mutual Fund as the vice-chairman of Amfi, for a period of one year.

Hurun Rich List 2019: Mukesh Ambani Richest Indian

Reliance Industries' Chairman Mukesh Ambani has topped the list of richest Indians for the eighth consecutive year, with a net worth of ₹3,80,700 crore, according to the latest IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List.
London-based SP Hinduja & family, with assets worth ₹1,86,500 crore, retained the second rank in the list, followed by Wipro founder Azim Premji at the third place with a wealth of ₹1,17,100 crore.
According to the latest IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List, the number of Indians having a net worth of more than ₹1,000 crore has grown to 953 this year from 831 in 2018; while, the number of billionaires in terms of US dollar has reduced to 138 from 141.

Former India Cricketer Madhav Apte Passes Away At 86

Former India cricketer Madhav Apte passed away at Breach Candy Hospital at the age of 86.
In his seven Tests for India in 1952-53, Apte averaged 49.27, the highlight being a match-saving, unbeaten 163 against West Indies in Port of Spain.
In his 17-year long first-class career, from 1951-52 to 1967-68, he featured in 67 first-class matches in which he amassed 3,336 runs with six centuries and 16 half-centuries.
He made his Test debut against Pakistan in November 1952 in Nagpur.

IndiGo Board Appoints Advocate Pallavi Shardul Shroff as Independent Director

India's largest domestic airline, InterGlobe Aviation Limited operated IndiGo, said that the board of directors of the airline has approved the appointment of advocate Pallavi Shardul Shroff as an independent woman director in the company.
Shroff, who's a managing partner at law firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, has been inducted in the airline's board, with effect from 19 September, 2019.
The induction of Shroff into the airline's board of director comes after the shareholders of the company voted in favour of expanding the board's strength to 10 at the annual general meeting (AGM) in New Delhi.

IDBI Bank Appoints Samuel Joseph as Deputy Managing Director

IDBI Bank's Board of Directors has approved the appointment of Samuel Joseph Jebaraj as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) for a period of 3 years with effect from September 19, 2019.
The decision has been taken as per the approval received by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
This is the first major appointment on the Bank's Board, in which the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) acquired a majority stake of 51 per cent in January 2019.
The DMD position became vacant after KP Nair superannuated in May 2019.
