Makar Sankranti 2020

Makar Sankranti is one of the major Hindu festivals of India, and is celebrated with a lot of fervour in our country. The festival is majorly celebrated in the Indian Subcontinent and also by Indians and Hindus around the world. The festival is a religious celebration as well as a seasonal observance and marks the winter solstice, when the shift of the sun leads to ever-lengthening, longer days.
This day, also known as Maghi, is a major harvest festival and is dedicated to the sun god Surya, it also marks the first day of the sun's transit into Makara (Capricorn) and is observed in the month of January. Usually, the festival is celebrated on January 14, but in some exceptions, it takes place of January 15, which is the case for the year 2020 as well.

Ariana Grande Set To Perform At 2020 Grammy Awards

Ariana Grande has been added to the list of A-list performers at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
The announcement was made ON Jan. 11, 2020 by the superstar singer and The Recording Academy.
The Grammy-winning artist is nominated in five categories this year, including album of the year for Thank You, Next.
Other 2020 Grammy performers include Billie Eilish and Lizzo, who will make their debut on the Grammy stage, and a first-time collaborative performance by couple Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani.

Ten Day Karavali Utsav Begins In Mangaluru

A 10-day coastal Karnataka festival 'Karavali Utsav' began.
The festival will last till January 19, 2020 at Karavali Utsav Ground in Kadri Park at Panambur Beach.
The three-decade-old Karavali Utsav is a festival of Karwar, a coastal district of Karnataka which has its own culture and traditions.
The event brings unity within people as they come together to celebrate the festival season.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will "re-dedicate three recently restored iconic buildings" to the people of Kolkata.
Currency Building, Meltcalfe Hall and Belvedre House are the heritage buildings that have been restored and made vibrant with the intervention of the Ministry of Culture.

Gujarat: 31st International Kite Festival Launched In Ahmedabad

In Gujarat, the 31st International Kite Festival has been launched at Sabarmati river front in Ahmedabad morning. It will continue till 14th January- Makarsankranti- the festival of Kites in different parts of the state. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has inaugurated the colourful kite festival, which is also attracting large number of foreign tourists in the state.
