Himachal Day

Every year, the state of Himachal Pradesh celebrates Himachal Day on April 15. The day is celebrated to commemorate the creation of Himachal Pradesh.
On April 15, 1948, Himachal Pradesh was formed as the province to be administered Chief Commissioner. Later, it was made a "C" category state on January 25, 1950.
The 1950 Constitution distinguished three main types of states. They were as follows:
Part A states: They were the former provinces of British India. They were ruled by the governors appointed by the president. Nine states belonged to this category. They were Bihar, Bombay, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Madras, Punjab, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.
Part B states: They were the former princely states. They were governed by Rajpramukh. The system of Rajpramukh existed in India between 1947 and 1956. The Rajpramukh was appointed by the President of India. They were Jammu and Kashmir, Hyderabad, Mysore, Madhya Pradesh, East Punjab States Union, Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Travancore.
Part C states: These states included both the former chief commissioners' provinces and the princely states. Part C states were Bhopal, Ajmer, Bilaspur, Delhi, Coorg, Cutch, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura and Vindhya Pradesh.
Till 1956, Himachal Pradesh was a C category state. In 1956, it was declared as a Union Territory. Later in 1970, Parliament passed the Himachal Pradesh Act. Since then, Himachal Pradesh came into existence as a full-fledged state on January 25, 1971.

World Art day

World Art Day is celebrated every year on April 15 across the globe as an event to celebrate fine arts. The day was embraced by the International Association of Art, a partner of UNESCO, to bolster awareness of creative activity in the world.
The occasion was first celebrated on April 15 in the year 2012, which also happens to be the birth anniversary of the Italian polymath, Leonardo da Vinci. The official celebration of the day took place in Los Angeles, USA in the year 2015, while in 2017, the International Association of Art formed its official US chapter.
Celebrating World Art day, as per United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), strongly integrates society and artistic expressions as well as throws light on the significant contribution of artists in ensuring sustainable development. The occasion also promotes arts in educational institutions.

World Chagas Disease Day

World Chagas Disease Day is celebrated on April 14 to raise awareness around chagas disease. It was first celebrated on April 14, 2020 and was named after Carlos Ribeiro Justiniano Chagas, the Brazilian doctor who diagnosed the first case on 14 April 1909. World Chagas Disease Day was approved for creation on May 24, 2019 at the 72nd session of the World Health Assembly, and officially created at the WHA plenary on May 28, 2019. The proposal for a World Chagas Disease Day was instituted by the International Federation of Associations of People Affected by Chagas Disease, and was supported by several health institutions, universities, research centres, organizations and foundations. "An annual day celebrated at global level is bound to attract international attention," said Dr Pedro Albajar Viñas, WHO Medical Officer (Chagas disease). "These days can help to provide visibility and commit countries to enhance control interventions for a disease that has remained largely neglected, but still present in many countries." Celebrating World Chargas Disease Day provides a unique opportunity to express a voice in favor of this disease.
World Chagas Disease Day is one of 11 official global public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organization (WHO), along with World Tuberculosis Day, World Health Day, World Malaria Day, World Immunization Week, World No Tobacco Day, World Blood Donor Day, World Hepatitis Day, World Patient Safety Day, World Antimicrobial Awareness Week and World AIDS Day.

Ambedkar Jayanti

Every year India celebrates Ambedkar Jayanti or Bhim Jayanti on April 14. The day is also called Ambedkar Remembrance Day. Since 2015, April 14 is observed as an official public holiday in India.
He struggled for equality throughout his life. Thus, his birthday is also celebrated as "Equality Day". India has placed a demand to celebrate his birthday as International Equality Day to the United Nations.
He was also known as Babasaheb Ambedkar.
In 1932, he signed Poona Pact with Madan Mohan Malaviya. According to the agreement, reserved seats were provided for depressed classes. Because of the pact, the depressed classes received one hundred and forty-eight seats instead of seventy one seats.
In 1936, Ambedkar founded Independent Labour Party.

National Fire Service Day

National Fire Service Day is observed every year on April 14 to remember the 71 firemen who lost their lives fighting the fire that took place at freighter SS Fort Stikine at the Victoria Dock in the then Bombay Port on April 14, 1944. The explosion led to the killing of hundreds of people including the firemen. It also caused extensive damage to the ships. To remember those brave men who lost their lives fighting the fire, the day is observed nationally every year.

Jallianwala Bagh Massacre 102nd Anniversary

April 13 marks the day of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, and this year it is the 102nd anniversary of the celebrations of Baisakhi festival which took a grim turn back in 1919.
Jallianwala Bagh Massacre is one of the most heart-wrenching historic events for India, in which British officers opened fire on thousands of people who had gathered to celebrate the occasion of Baisakhi.
The incident has been given a very prominent position in the history of India, it is seen to be the major turning point in the national freedom movement of India.

International Day of Human Space Fligh

The International Day of Human Space Flight is the annual celebration, held on 12 April, of the anniversary of the first human space flight by Yuri Gagarin. It was proclaimed at the 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly on 7 April 2011, a few days before the 50th anniversary of the flight.
April 12, 1961 was the date of the first human space flight, carried out by Yuri Gagarin, a Soviet citizen. This historic event opened the way for space exploration for the benefit of all humanity.

National Safe Motherhood Day

National Safe Motherhood Day is observed on April 11 every year. National Safe Motherhood Day is an initiative of the White Ribbon Alliance India (WRAI), to enforce that women must have the availability and adequate access to care during pregnancy childbirth and postnatal services.
At the request of WRAI, an alliance of 1800 organizations, in 2003, the Government of India declared April 11th, the anniversary of Kasturba Gandhi's birth, as National Safe Motherhood Day. India is the 1st country in the world to have socially declared a National Safe Motherhood Day.
