According to the UN website, after the deadliest Tsunami in the Indian Ocean in 2004, the UN General Assembly decided to declare November 5 as World Tsunami Awareness Day. The day has been observed continuously every year since December 2015. It is observed to create cognizance among people of the Tsunami, most importantly for the 700 million population living in low-lying coastal areas and islands.

G20 Summit Ends with the Adoption of Rome Declaration
The 2021 G20 (Group of Twenty) Summit was held in Rome, Italy on October 30 and 31, 2021. It was the 16th meeting of the G20 group. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. The summit concluded with the adoption of the Rome Declaration by G20 Leaders.

Agriculture Minister Inaugurates "Apple Festival" in Jammu and Kashmir
Union Agriculture Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar and Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha has virtually inaugurated Apple Festival, organized for the first time in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. It will provide a better platform to apple growers and other stakeholders. With an annual production of more than 2 million metric tonnes, apple from J&K contributes to 87% of the national production and is linked to the livelihood of about 30% of the population of Jammu and Kashmir.
National Ayurveda Day
National Ayurveda Day was celebrated on November 2, 2021 by the Ministry of AYUSH, across the country.
Ayurveda is an integral aspect of healthcare system of India. It holds recognition as traditional medicine system by World Health Organization (WHO).
Union Ministry of AYUSH started observing Dhanvantari Jayanti (also called as Dhanteras) as Ayurveda day in 2016.
The day was started being celebrated with the objective of nationalising the ayurvedic system of medicine and make it global.
In the year 2021, the day was observed under the theme "Ayurveda for Poshana (Nutrition)".
India celebrates Ayurveda Day each year on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras. This day celebrated since 2016 on the occasion of Dhanvantari Jayanti. This day is celebrated to raise awareness on importance of Ayurveda in our daily lives. It also focuses on strengths of Ayurveda and its unique treatment principles.
International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists
Every year, the United Nations marks the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists on November 2.
Between 2006 and 2019, more than 1,200 journalists have been killed. The recent assassination of Journalist Jamal Khashoggi in October 2018 kindled worldwide criticism and scrutiny of the Saudi Government.
The date of November 2nd was chosen to mark the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against journalists to commemorate the assassination of French journalists in Mali in 2013.
The theme for International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists 2021 was Protect Journalists, Protect the Truth.

Tamil Nadu Day to be Celebrated on July 18, Not November 1
Reversing a previous AIADMK government's decision, the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu said that the state's Formation Day will now be celebrated on July 18, in lines with the rechristening of its name to the present one and not on November 1.
Chief Minister M K Stalin's announcement in this connection drew the AIADMK's criticism, which alleged it was done due to "political vendetta."
K. Palaniswami, as Chief Minister in 2019, had announced Tamil Nadu Day will be observed on November 1 following requests from various quarters then.
Karnataka Rajyotsava
Karnataka Rajyotsava, also known as Karnataka Formation Day or Karnataka Day, is celebrated on November 1 of every year. This was the day in 1956 when all the Kannada language-speaking regions of South and Western India were merged to form the state of Karnataka.
The Rajyotsava Day is listed as a government holiday in the state of Karnataka and is celebrated by Kannadigas across the world. It is marked by the announcement and presentation of the honours list for Rajyotsava Awards by the Government of Karnataka, hoisting of the official Karnataka flag with an address from the Chief Minister and Governor of the state along with community festivals, orchestra, Kannada book releases and concerts.
World Vegan Day
Every year on November 1, the vegan community celebrates World Vegan Day with zeal. It is a day to celebrate the custom of embracing an all-green diet that excludes dairy and animal products. People are encouraged to adopt a vegan lifestyle on World Vegan Day.

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day
National Unity Day is celebrated in India on 31 October. It was introduced by the Government of India in 2014. The day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel who had a major role in the political integration of India.
This year (2021) marks the 146th anniversary of the Iron Man of India. The objective is to maintain the nation's unity and aims to spread awareness about Patel's contribution to Indian history.
Patel played a crucial role in India's freedom movement and in the integration of India from 560 princely states.
BRICS Joint Statistical Publication
The 13th Meeting of Heads of National Statistical Offices of BRICS Countries was held virtually, under the Chairship of India.
Meeting was chaired by Dr. G. P. Samanta, who happens to be the Chief Statistician of India & Secretary of Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI).
Representatives from National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of the BRICS Countries attended the meeting.
In the meeting, JSP (Joint Statistical Publication) 2021 and JSP Snapshot 2021 for BRICS Countries were released.
Speakers from BRICS NSOs spoke on efforts taken so far and future plan with respect to data & methodologies in monitoring the SDGs.
