Asia University Rankings 2022 by Times Higher Education (THE): 4 Indian Institutions in Top 100

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) continued to be the best institute from the country, being ranked at 42nd place in the latest Asia University Rankings 2022 by Times Higher Education (THE). Following IISc in the top 100 institutions from Asia were JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research at 65th place, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar at 68th rank and IIT Indore at 87th place. With 71 institutions as against 63 last year, India was the third most-represented country, behind Japan and mainland China. Further, there were 17 Indian universities in the top 200, down from 18 last year. Of the 14 that were ranked in both years, eight improved their rankings.
China is home to the continent's top two universities for the third consecutive year, with Tsinghua and Peking universities holding on to first and second place, respectively. Japan is the most-represented nation again this year, with 118 institutions, up from 116 last year.

Health Ministry Launches Two Month Long Covid-19 Vaccination Drive Har Ghar Dastak 2.0 Campaign

The Union Health Ministry launched the Har Ghar Dastak 2.0 campaign to speed up Covid-19 vaccination coverage across all eligible age groups. The aim of the two-month long campaign is to vaccinate and saturate the eligible population groups for first, second and precaution doses through door-to-door campaign. Chairman, India's COVID 19 working group, N. K. Arora, participated in a special discussion programme on the topic, Har Ghar Dastak 2.0 ki shuruat".
Major focus will also remain on improving sub-optimal coverage of persons aged ≥ 60years with precaution dose, along with considerably slower speed of coverage in the 12-14 years cohort by focussed campaigns for old age homes, schools/colleges including the out-of-school children (for focussed coverage of children aged 12-18 years population), prisons, brick kilns, etc. States/UTs have been urged to undertake effective monitoring with respective micro-plans based on due-lists of all eligible beneficiaries.

Gujarat Hosts the National Education Ministers' Conference

Gujarat hosted the two-day National Education Ministers' Conference. The meeting was attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, as well as other Union Ministers and state and union territory Education Ministers. Deliberations on how to boost the country's education ecosystem took place during this conference. It concentrated on the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, school skilling, and digital projects such as the National Digital Education Architecture and the National Educational Technology Forum, among others.
The state education ministers also paid visits to Vidya Samiksha Kendra, BISAG (Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics), NFSU (National Forensic Science University), and the International Automobile Centre of Excellence.

IIT Roorkee Joins Hand with Deloitte on Capacity Building Programme to Achieve High Level of AI P...

Celebrating the 175th year of its foundation, Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), announced a strategic collaboration with Deloitte, a leader in AI, to deliver rigorous, immersive programmes in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) that are designed to build's the next generation workforce.
This partnership aims to revolutionise the industry-academia relationship and that will help in bridging the talent gap and nurture future leaders with a high level of AI proficiency. Under this partnership, Deloitte will offer fellowships and a work-study programme for IIT Roorkee students to work on AI and Advanced Analytics.
IIT Roorkee's collaboration with Deloitte is in sync with the Digital India mission of the Government of India, which aims at boosting the AI-enabled technologies in every sector including governance, banking, education and health, etc.

Shruti Sharma Tops UPSC, Women Get First 3 Spots

The top three positions for civil services examination, 2021, were bagged by women, with Shruti Sharma, a student of history, securing the first rank. Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla have taken the second and third rank, respectively. Aishwarya Verma secured the fourth position and Utkarsh Dwivedi achieved the fifth rank. A total of 685 candidates (508 men and 177 women) have qualified and have been recommended for appointment to various central services.
Sharma, who graduated in history (hons) from the University of Delhi, topped the examination with history as her optional subject.
The top 25 candidates comprise 15 men and 10 women. It is after six years that women have bagged the top three slots. In 2015, the top four positions were achieved by women. All the three women achievers said they would like to work for women empowerment and other important areas such as education and healthcare.

National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) Launches Portal to Simplify Process of Recognition ...

National Council for Teacher Education launched an online portal to streamline the process of recognition of teacher education programs of Higher Education Institutions and Teacher Education Institutions. This portal will bring in a paradigm shift in the functioning of National Council for Teacher Education.
The portal aims to provide an automated robust framework thereby enhancing accountability, transparency and ease of doing business. The applications for the recently launched four year Integrated Teacher Education Programmes applications will be processed on this portal.
