Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Launches Toll-Free No. 14500 To Curb Sand Smuggling

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched toll-free number 14500 to curb smuggling and hoarding of sand and other irregularities in the supply of the construction material.
After launching the toll-free number, Jagan made a call to the employees manning it and gave suggestions for its effective functioning.
People can now complain against any individual indulging in smuggling, hoarding and black marketing of sand and other irregularities.
As a measure to eliminate sand mafia completely, the YSRC government enacted an Act, which does not allow a person to hoard/resale or stock sand beyond his/her requirement.
Violation of the provisions of the Act attracts a fine to the tune of Rs 2 lakh and also imprisonment up to two years.

SAANS Aims To Reduce Child Mortality

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Harsh Vardhan launched SAANS, a campaign aimed at reducing child mortality due to pneumonia, which contributes to around 15% deaths annually of children under the age of five.
SAANS, short for 'Social Awareness and Action to Neutralise Pneumonia Successfully' was launched by the Union Health Ministry to mobilise people to protect children from pneumonia, and train health personnel and other stakeholders to provide prioritised treatment to control the disease.
As per HMIS data, under-five mortality rate in the country is 37 per 1000 live births, of which 5.3 deaths are caused due to pneumonia.
The government aims to achieve a target of reducing pneumonia deaths among children to less than three per 1,000 live births by 2025.
The HMIS data for 2018-19 ranked Gujarat second in the number of child deaths due to pneumonia, after Madhya Pradesh.
The State ranked fifth in infant mortality due to pneumonia.

Septic Tank Cleaning Scheme for Unauthorised Colonies

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that his government would soon launch a new scheme under which residents of unauthorised colonies, especially those that do not have sewer networks, would be able to call the Delhi Jal Board and get their septic tanks cleaned for free.
The announcement comes at a time when the central government is gearing up to confer ownership and transfer rights over properties in 1,728 unauthorised colonies, which had been a poll plank for political parties for years.
The central government has kept 69 identified unauthorised colonies in the city out of its plans for the time being.
Under the scheme – Mukhyamantri Septic Tank Safai Yojana – the government will launch helplines that will allow residents of unauthorised colonies to seek appointment for septic tank cleaning in time-slots that are convenient to them, the chief minister said. He said the initiative would help 4.5 million people in unauthorised colonies.

AP CM Launches 'Nadu-Nedu' Programme To Transform School Education

With an aim to transform the government schools in the state into vibrant and competitive institutions, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the 'Nadu-Nedu' programme.
The CM said that the government will overcome all the challenges with a goal to meet the requirements of what the changing world expected from the youth then years from now.
The scheme launched will be implemented in two phases where the first phase will have 15, 715 government schools.
The scheme will cover all the schools in three years with a budget of Rs 12,000 crores. For the first year of the scheme, Rs 3,500 crores will be spent on the development of the infrastructure of the schools.
The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering at a school when he said that in spite of all the criticism faced the government will go ahead with the English Medium Schools as it is the need of the hour to prepare the students to meet the requirements of the world.
He also added that it is being done for the future generation to prepare themselves.

Committee to Draft new Water Policy

The Union Water Resources Ministry has finalised a committee to draft a new National Water Policy (NWP).
It will be chaired by Mihir Shah, who is a former Planning Commission member and a water expert.
The committee has 10 principal members, including Shashi Shekhar, a former secretary of Water Resources, and A.B. Pandya, former chairman of the Central Ground Water Board.
The committee is expected to produce a report within six months.

Gujarat CM Launches Online Registration Portal to Facilitate Setting up of New MSME Units

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani launched an online registration portal to facilitate setting up of new MSME units.
He approved the first online application through the portal and issued a certificate through an e-mail to a woman entrepreneur.
A certificate of applications was approved and the certificate was issued within a few minutes after online declaration of intent was registered on the portal.
Earlier, the State government had announced a waiver from approval procedure to MSME units for first three years.
The government had also announced that purchase of land would also be possible without prior approval for the purpose of setting up a new MSME unit in the state.
