Wind-Solar Hybrid Parks Scheme

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has proposed a new scheme to develop wind-solar hybrid parks. The scheme aims to address the key issues faced by renewable energy projects.
The wind-solar hybrid parks will be a concentrated zone of power projects. It will provide an area with the required infrastructure. The sites to develop the wind-solar hybrid parks are to be selected by National Institute of wind Energy.
The capacity of each park is expected to be 500 MW and more. However, there are no restrictions to develop lower capacity park. In case of lower capacity parks, the capacity of the park should not be less than 50 MW.

Madhya Pradesh to Bring Dharma Swatantrya (Religious Freedom) Bill 2020

The state governments in Madhya Pradesh and Haryana are taking steps to check the rising incidents of inter-religious marriages. While the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led government in MP is mulling over introducing the Dharma Swatantrya (Religious Freedom) Bill 2020 in the next session of the state Assembly, the Manohar Lal Khattar cabinet in Haryana is going to set up a committee to draft a 'strict' law against such cases.
Madhya Pradesh's Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that his government is working on bringing the 'Dharma Swatantrya Bill' 2020 in the state assembly with a provision for five-year rigorous imprisonment for luring a person through fraud and forcing marriage by religious conversion by making it a cognisable and non-bailable offence.

Jharkhand Assembly Passes Resolution on Sarna Code

The Jharkhand assembly has unanimously passed a resolution seeking the inclusion of Sarna as a separate religion in census, 2021. Chief minister Hemant Soren said the resolution, passed during a special one-day assembly session, will now be sent to the centre for approval.
The opposition parties gave a proposal demanding a discussion on the resolution, which speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato accepted. BJP legislators proposed an amendment to the resolution seeking removal of the oblique from 'tribal/Sarna' word in it.
Soren said his government is sensitive to people's sentiments and accepted the amendment, after which all the parties supported the resolution.

Ministry of Finance Approved Creation of National Database of Unorganised Sector

The Finance Ministry has given its approval for the creation of national database for unorganised sector. It will be the first-ever national database for migrant workers. The aim of creating national database is to give a proper platform to migrant labourers. It will also make it easy for the government to implement programmes for the unorganised sector.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment has said that the National Database of Unorganised Workers will maintain the database of the workers using their 12-digit Aadhaar number.
The database will enroll all unorganized workers including migrant labourers.

PM-KUSUM scaled up: Goal Set to 30.8 GW of Solar Capacity by 2022

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has recently issued orders to expand Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM). Accordingly, the new target of the scheme has been enhanced to achieve solar capacity of 30.8 GW by 2022. This is to be done with the revised central financial support of Rs. 34,035 crores.
In September 2020, the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy proposed to initiate centralised tendering process for the year 2020-21 targeting 4.5 lakh standalone solar pumps. In the first year of the scheme, the target was 1.75 lakh solar pumps. The tendering process is being done by EESL.
The scheme was launched to help farmers install solar pumps, grid connected solar power and other renewable power plants. Initially the target of the scheme was set to achieve 25,720 MW by 2022.
There are three components of the scheme are - Component A: To install 10,000 MW of decentralised ground mounted grid connected renewable power plants, Component B: To install 17.5 lakh standalone solar power agricultural pumps with capacity up to 7.5 HP and Component C: To solarise 10 lakh grid connected agriculture pumps.

Uttarakhand CM Launches Free Wi-Fi Service for Govt. Colleges, Universities

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat launched free high-speed WiFi service for all government colleges and universities in the state. He launched the service at a college in his constituency Doiwala.
Rawat said that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to provide free internet to all government colleges and universities. According to Rawat, internet connectivity in colleges and universities will play a big role in the education of students.
