Ireland Architects Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara Win The Pritzker Architecture Prize 2020

Chairman of The Hyatt Foundation Tom Pritzker announced Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara as the winners of Pritzker Architecture prize 2020. It is the 1st time an Irish citizen and a female combination won the prize. It is an annual award sponsored by Hyatt Foundation regarded as the profession's highest award.
The Pritzker Architecture Prize is founded by Jay A. Pritzker and his wife Cindy. The prize gets its name from the Pritzker family who established through their Hyatt Foundation in 1979.The award consists of $100,000 (US) and a bronze medallion.
It is presented to honour a living architect or architect's built work which demonstrates a combination of talent, vision, and commitment and has produced consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture. It is often referred to as "architecture's Nobel" and "the profession's highest honour."

Sarbananda Sonowal Receives Swarajya Awards 2020

Assam's Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was honoured with Swarajya Awards 2020 under the category, Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee Award for Politics at the 6th India Ideas Conclave at Tent City Narmada in Gujarat. The award is instituted by India Foundation & Indic Academy, and presented by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Speaker of People's Majlis of Maldives Mohamed Nasheed.
He received the award for his work in integrating the nation, and to take Mukherjee's vision and philosophy forward.
He dedicated the award to the people of Assam, who have been the source of inspiration and guidance during his public life.
The award aims to honour the stellar work by individuals in the field of culture, social work, politics and economics. Each award carries a citation, a specially designed trophy and a cheque worth Rs. 1 lakh.

Jadav Payeng Honoured with 6th Swami Vivekananda Karmayogi Award 2020

Forest Man of India & environmentalist Jadav 'Molai' Payeng was honoured with the 6th annual Swami Vivekananda Karmayogi award 2020 for his consistent efforts in creating a man made forest through afforestation. The award comprises of a trophy, a recitation and a reward of Rs. 1 Lakh. He is also a forest worker from the missing tribe from Jorhat, Assam.
The award ceremony was organised by My Home India in New Delhi and Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Mr. Prakash Javadekar handed over the award.
Karmayogi award is presented to recognise extraneous achievement towards development of the north-east region of India.
He planted & tended trees on a sandbar of the Brahmaputra River & turned it into forest. The forest is called Molai forest after him.
In 2015, he was honoured with Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India.

Berlin International Film Festival 2020

The 70th annual Berlin International Film Festival took place from 20 February to 1 March 2020. It was the first under the leadership of new Berlin Film Festival heads, business administration director Mariette Rissenbeek and artistic director Carlo Chatrian.

Rajesh Gopinathan, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) won the Outstanding Business Leader of the Year in the 15th edition of the 'India Business Leader Awards' in Mumbai.
TCS also bagged the iconic company of the decade award
Chaired by Aditya Puri, managing director of HDFC Bank, an eminent jury selected winners from a compelling list of nominees.
Former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was posthumously given the Hall of Fame award for his contribution to the Indian economy.

President Gives Away Awards to 21 Winners on National Science Day Celebrations

The President, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, has emphasised on enhancing quality and relevance of our scientific enterprise. He said that our science must work for our people by contributing to their development and well-being. The President announced three key initiatives for gender advancement and equality in academic and research institutions on the occasion of National Science Day in a function held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. This year the theme for National Science Day is "Women in Science".
Vigyan Jyoti is an initiative that will create a level-playing field for the meritorious girls in high school to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in their higher education. The Gender Advancement for Transforming Institutions (GATI) will develop a comprehensive Charter and a framework for assessing the Gender Equality in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). An online portal for science and technology resources for women will provide E-resources related to all women-specific government schemes, scholarships, fellowships, career counseling with details of subject area experts from various disciplines in science and technology, President Kovind highlighted.
