Awards for Reporting on Road Safety

Prachi Salve of IndiaSpend and Pradeep Dwivedi of Dainik Jagran were jointly awarded the top prize for their contribution towards reporting on road safety by the Centre for Media Studies (CMS).
CMS, a not-for-profit research think tank, supported by the World Health Organization (WHO) India, conducted a three-month fellowship programme for journalists to work on road safety and related issues in 2019.
The second prize awardees are B. Raveendra Shetty of Vijay Karnataka and Purnima Singh of Times Now Hindi.
Kishor Dwivedi of the Press Trust of India (PTI) and Sangamesh Menasinakai of The Times of India bagged the third prize.
A total of 12 journalists were selected for the fellowship programme and they have produced in-depth stories on road safety for the print, TV and online medium, the CMS said.
The winners will be presented with certificates and cash prize at a ceremony that was scheduled for March but has been postponed due to coronavirus outbreak.

Chameli Devi Jain Award for Outstanding Woman Journalist

Arfa Khanum Sherwani of The Wire and Bengaluru-based freelancer Rohini Mohan were jointly given this year's Chameli Devi Jain Award for outstanding woman journalist.
Rukmini S, an independent data-journalist from Chennai, received honourable mention.
The annual award which recognises social concern, dedication, courage and compassion received over 40 entries from all over India representing the print, broadcast and online media.
The jury comprised political scientist Zoya Hasan and journalists Sreenivasan Jain and Manoj Mitta.
While Sherwani was chosen for her reporting from conflict situations in Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh, the jury felt that Mohan's reportage on the NRC exercise in Assam set a new benchmark for investigative journalism.

CRPF Institutesd Shakti Award

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) instituted a special 'Shakti Award.' It will be presented annually to chosen personnel who work for the empowerment of women.
The award was announced on International Women's Day on 8 March. The award will be conferred every year on 19 March, the CRPF Raising Day.
Women who work for creating women-friendly infrastructure, better work environment, ease of living with safety, addressing women-specific issues, and related innovation and initiatives will be awarded.
The award will carry a reward of Rs.1 lakh, a citation, and a trophy.
The award aims to recognise the best practices and efforts made towards women empowerment and gender equality in the force.
It aims to motivate CRPF personnel to do better and innovate in the field.
CRPF raised the world's first all-women battalion with strength of over 1,000 personnel in 1986. Currently, there are six such battalions.

Dr. Jaimanti Bakshi, PGI Professor Wins Best Citizens of India Gold Medal Award

Dr. Jaimanti Bakshi, Professor & Unit Head II, Department of Otolaryngology and Head Neck surgery at PGIMER (Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research), Chandigarh was awarded with "Best Citizens of India". The award was given by "GEPRA" (Global Economic Progress and Research Association) during the National Unity conference held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu (TN).
Dr. Bakshi was awarded for her contribution and individual achievements towards the National Development by her services to the people suffering from many ENT (Ear Nose Throat) diseases, head and neck cancer.
GEPRA functions under Government of India (GOI).

Rajesh Chaplot Gets Ugandas Highest Civilian Award

Rajesh Chaplot, a distinguished Non-Resident Indian (NRI) businessman, was honoured with the Highest Civilian Award "Golden Jubilee Medal-Civilians" of Uganda. The award was conferred by the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, in a ceremony in Kampala. Chaplot was awarded for his excellence in the field of Business and Commerce, Social Service and for fostering better India-Uganda ties.
Chaplot is from Udaipur in Rajasthan. He has also received Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, which is the highest award for overseas Indians. It was conferred by President Ramnath Kovind in Varanasi 2019. He received his degree from The Institute of Charted Accountants of India, New Delhi. Chaplot migrated to Africa in 1996. He is presently spearheading several companies and business associations in Uganda and Congo in different roles like Managing Director, CEO, Director, and Board Member. He also served as the Chairman of the Indian Association of Uganda, Secretary-General of Indian Business Forum Uganda, and the Board Member, Uganda Manufacturers Association.

Four AAI Airports among Best Aerodromes in World

Four Indian airports under the Airport Authority of India (AAI) were selected as one of the best aerodromes in the world, announced (ASQ) Airport Service Quality Awards 2019. Mangalore International Airport topped in the list followed by Chandigarh, Trivandrum and Lucknow.
Totally 10 awards in four categories were given to these airports.
These airports were chosen as the best for its size and region, environment and ambience customer service and infrastructure and facilitation.
The survey measures the passenger's satisfaction with 8 categories such as access, check-in, security, airport facilities, food and beverage, retail, airport environment and arrival services.
Airports Council International (ACI) carries out international benchmarking of aerodromes. The ACI-ASQ survey is conducted in 356 airports and the survey is monitored by AERA, NITI Aayog and MoCA.
The ASQ award ceremony will be conducted during the 3rd ACI Customer Experience Global Summit at Krakow, Poland in September 2020.
Mangalore International Airport (MIA) was selected as the best airport in the world for its size and region.
