Indo-Japan Cooperation Wins OECD Mutual Agreement Procedure 2019 Award

India-Japan cooperation has won the OECD Mutual Agreement Procedure 2019 Award.
Finance Ministry sources said that India with Japan has won the 2019 Award on Co-operation for highest agreement ratio for a pair of jurisdictions for transfer pricing cases. The Award to India-Japan Mutual Agreement Procedure (MAP) Cooperation demonstrates India's commitment to provide tax certainty and efficacious dispute resolution mechanism for the Japanese companies doing business in India. There is large number of Japanese companies doing business in India in manufacturing as well as trading sectors.

Douglas Stuart Wins Booker Prize 2020

The Booker Prize of the year 2020 was won by Douglas Stuart for his debut novel "Shuggie Bain". The shortlist of Booker Prize consisted of five more titles such as Burnt Sugar. The Burnt Sugar was published in India as "Girl in White Cotton". It also included "The New Wilderness" by Diane Cook, "The Shadow King" by Maaza Mengiste, "This Mournable Body" by Tsitsi Dangarembga, "Real Life" by Brandon Taylor and "The Shadow King" by Maaza Mengiste.
Apart from these authors, the event also witnessed the participation of former US President Barack Obama. He recently published the first volume of his book "A Promised Land".
The Booker Prize is a literary prize awarded annually for the best novel. The prize is awarded to novels written in English and published in Ireland or UK. It was formerly known as "Booker-McConnell Prize" (1969-2001) and Man Booker Prize (2002-2019). In 1997, Arundati Roy of India won the Booker Prize for her Novel "The God of Small Things".
The Booker Prize carries 50,000 pounds of cash money.
Douglas Stuart who won the 2020 Booker Prize was the only British author on the US-dominated shortlist.

National Book Award for Fiction

Charles Yu's 'Interior Chinatown', a satirical, cinematic novel written in the form of a screenplay, has won the National Book Award for fiction.
Tamara Payne and her father the late Les Payne's Malcolm X biography, 'The Dead Are Arising', was cited for nonfiction and Kacen Callender's 'King and the Dragonflies' for young people's literature. The poetry prize went to Don Mee Choi's 'DMZ Colony' and the winner for best translated work was Yu Miri's "Tokyo Ueno Station,'' translated from Japanese by Morgan Giles.
Honorary medals were given Wednesday night to mystery novelist Walter Mosley and to the late CEO of Simon & Schuster, Carolyn Reidy.

Assam Wins Four Awards in Fisheries Sector

Assam won four awards in fisheries sector from the National Fisheries Development Board operating under the Ministry of Fisheries.
Assam received the best state award under the category of the best hilly and North Eastern State in Fisheries. Also, the Assam Apex Cooperative Fish Marketing and Processing Federation Limited (FISHED) won the first place in the category of hilly and North Eastern Government Organization. The Nagaon district of Assam was selected the best hilly and North Eastern district category. Amal Medhi, a farmer from Nalbari district of Assam won first place under the category of hilly and North Eastern fish farmer category.
Odisha bagged the best state in marine state category.
Uttar Pradesh won the best state award in Inland state category.

Ramesh Pokriyal 'Nishank' Inaugurats the Lilavati Awards

The Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokriyal 'Nishank' inaugurated the Lilavati Awards. The award is an initiative of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The Lilavati Award aims to recognise the efforts of AICTE affiliated institutions in treating women.
The Lilavati Awards are to be presented based on the theme of women empowerment.
There are seven categories that are included in the award. They are literacy, self-defence, women entrepreneurship, legal awareness, women health and sanitation and hygiene.
The award has been named after the 12th century book called "Lilavati". The book was written by the mathematician Bhaskara II. Lilavati was the daughter of Indian Mathematician Bhaskara II. The prize was handed out for the first time at the International Congress of Mathematicians that was held in 2010.
