Human Rights Day

Human Rights Day is celebrated every December 10 to create awareness and mobilize political will to promote respect for the rights and freedoms enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948.
Human Rights Day is the day in 1948 the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The formal inception of Human Rights Day dates from 1950, after the Assembly passed resolution 423(V) inviting all States and interested organisations to adopt December 10 of each year as Human Rights Day.
The 2022 theme of Human Rights Day was 'Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All'.

International Anti-Corruption Day

The International Anti-corruption Day is observed globally on December 9 to raise awareness of corruption and of the role of the convention in combating and preventing it.
As the first step in combating corruption, The United Nations General Assembly adopted the United Nations Convention against corruption on October 31, 2003. The Assembly also designated December 9 as World Anti-Corruption Day to raise awareness about corruption and of the role of the Convention in battling and preventing it. The convention came into effect in December 2005.
The theme for International Anti-Corruption Day 2022 was "UNCAC at 20: Uniting the world against corruption."

Armed Forces Flag Day

Armed Forces Flag Day is observed on December 7 to honour the martyrs, veterans, and serving personnel of the Indian military. The day has been marked every year since 1949 to celebrate the valiant efforts undertaken by military personnel to safeguard the country's borders and raise funds to ensure their and their family's well-being.
The decision to celebrate an Armed Forces Flag Day was taken on August 28, 1949, by a committee set up under Baldev Singh the then Defense Minister of India.

International Civil Aviation Day

International Civil Aviation Day is observed on December 7. The International Civil Aviation Organisation is a UN body that takes care of international standards for aviation safety. This day is marked as a global observance and not a public holiday.
International Civil Aviation Day was celebrated first time on December 7, 1994 at the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation by the International Civil Aviation Organization.
The purpose of the day is to recognize the importance of aviation, especially international air travel, to the social and economic development of the world.
The theme for International Civil Aviation Day 2022 was "Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development".

B.R. Ambedkar's Death Anniversary

India observes December 6 as Mahaparinirvan Divas to mark the death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. B.R. Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution, was born on April 14, 1891. Fondly known as Babasaheb, he fought for the economic and social empowerment of Dalits in the country, eradicating the social scourge of untouchability and promoting gender equality. He was also among the seven members of the drafting committee who prepared a draft of the Constitution of independent India.

World Soil Day

December 5 is marked as World Soil Day to raise global awareness about healthy soil thereby shedding light on the efficient way to sustainably manage soil resources. In modern times, soil degradation has become a massive problem that's associated with global climate change and the decline in the condition of the soil.
The United Nations observes World Soil Day every year on December 5 in a bid to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining healthy ecosystems by addressing challenges posed by soil management. In 2022 the theme for the observance of this day was 'Soils: where food begins.' The proposal for an international day to celebrate soil dates back to 2002 and was initiated by the International Union of Soil Sciences. However, the UN general assembly adopted the proposal officially almost a decade later and in 2014, the first official world soil day was observed.

International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development

International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development is observed on December 5. The day is also referred to as International Volunteer Day (IVD) to recognise and promote the tireless work, not just of UN Volunteers, but of volunteers across the globe. The international observance was mandated by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in 1985. The day commemorates 80 countries in the world.
The General Assembly invited governments to observe the day as the International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development under resolution 40/212 on December 5. It was a result of their resolution from December 17, 1985, that guided all government, civil society organizations, and communities to work together with volunteers all around the world to celebrate the day. The Assembly also urged to take measures to heighten awareness of the important contribution of volunteer service.
The theme for International Volunteer Day 2022 was 'solidarity through volunteering'.
