The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) will organise a three-day International Conference on "Enterprise and Entrepreneurialism in Tourism and Hospitality" between January 28 to 30, 2022. The virtual conference would be attended by the prominent authorities from the Ministry of Tourism, National Tourism Associations and Academia.
The virtual conference will be hosted by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar. "This conference will help to bring various stakeholders on a single platform to discuss future tourism trends, ideas, implications and methodologies, underlying the theoretical and practical approaches for innovation and entrepreneurial growth in the Tourism and Hospitality sector.

Jai Ram Thakur Launches App to Promote Local Handicrafts through Tourism in Kangra
With a view to provide a hassle-free experience for tourists and simultaneously boosting sale of local handicrafts, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur launched 'Apna Kangra' app and hampers handcrafted by self help groups at Dharamsala in the district.
He said that the motive of 'Apna Kangra' was to empower rural women and provide job opportunities to youth through tourism, while facilitating hospitality services such as hotels, homestays and transport to travellers.
While the app is bound to provide a unique experience for tourists on the one hand, on the other it will serve as an e-marketing platform for SHG products from the district.

Chennai International Airport Ranks 8th in Global List for 'On-Time Performance'
The Chennai International Airport is one of the top 10 large international airports in the world that ensures 'on-time' departures. In a review conducted by Cirium, an organisation that specialises in offering aviation data to travel, finance, aerospace, and aviation industries, the airport was ranked 8th for 'on-time performance' for the year 2021. According to the latest traffic figures of Chennai Airport, it has done recovery of 80 % in domestic traffic. It is the sixth busiest airport in India.
Besides that, Chennai airport is the only Indian airport to figure in the top 10 positions of the list. The first three positions have been bagged by United State's Miami Airport, Fukuoka Airport, and Haneda Airport in Japan.

Kochi Becomes the First City with Water Metro Project
Kochi became the first city with a water metro project as it launched the first in a series of battery-powered electric boats in the city.
The new project by the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd would likely have an integrated water transport system with 15 identified routes.
It would connect 10 islands along a network of routes that span 76 km with a fleet of 78 fast, electrically propelled hybrid ferries plying to 38 jetties.
