Railways Removes Flexi-Fare From Humsafar Trains

Railways has removed the flexi-fare scheme from its premium Humsafar trains and has also decided to introduce sleeper class coaches.
The relief will be applicable to 35 pairs of Humsafar trains, which currently have only AC 3-tier classes.
The tatkal ticket fares of the Humsafar trains have also been decreased. They will now cost 1.3 times of the base fare, instead of 1.5 times.

Railways To Help Recharge Phones Of Passengers Using Plastic Bottle Crushers

The railways will install 400 bottle-crushing machines at stations, in which a passenger wanting to use them will have to key in his phone number into the machine and his phone will be recharged
Railways will help recharge phones of passengers if they use plastic bottle crushing machines installed at stations in a bid to promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to junk single use plastic.
In his Independence Day speech, Mr. Modi had appealed to the nation to eliminate single-use plastic and find alternatives to plastic water bottles on a priority basis.
Railways have issued directions that from October 2, 2019, single-use plastic will not be used on its premises.

Namaskar Sewa by Air India

Air India plans to launch its Namaskar Seva, a meet and greet service where a airline personnel will assist flyers from the airport entry gate and assist them till the aircraft seat.
The service can be availed by the customers soon and it will be available for all the passengers travelling by the airline.
Earlier, the airline was providing the same service for its first class passengers.
Namaskar Sewa would be offered to the passengers for a nominal fee. There is a feedback that at times, business and economy class passengers faced some issues at airports and did not have a pleasant experience. With Namaskar Sewa, the airlines is aiming to address those issues.
The airline plan to focus this service on its international passengers more, especially those flyers who are in transit. Air India plans to keep a team of three personnel to help passengers register for the service.
The airline plans to roll out the initiative in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad airports.

IndiGo Partners With SonyLIV To Provide Mobile Inflight Entertainment

IndiGo announced that it has entered into a partnership with video-on-demand platform SonyLIV to provide mobile entertainment services on its domestic flights.
To avail this "exclusive offer", IndiGo will provide a link to its flyers at the boarding counter through which they can avail the weekly subscription of SonyLIV for Rs 25.
A flyer has to first subscribe it in the boarding area or check-in area, then download the content on his or her mobile phone or any other personal device, and the content then can be watched onboard in offline or airplane mode.

Most Liveable City 2019

For the second year in a row, Vienna, Austria has been ranked the most liveable city in the world, according to The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).
The Austrian capital had almost perfect scores for stability, culture and environment, education and infrastructure and health care.
Melbourne, Australia took the second-place spot, following close behind Vienna's score. Vienna had taken the top spot from Melbourne in 2018 after seven consecutive years at No. 1.
Sydney, Australia; Osaka, Japan; and Calgary, Canada make up the remaining top five on the annual Global Liveability Index of 140 cities around the world.
Atlanta has risen 17 places due to a major upgrade in its stability score, while Seattle rose by 10 places.
Despite being rated highly for culture, New York only ranked 58th. The city's rank lagged due to lower scores in infrastructure and stability, with a higher perceived risk of crime and terrorism.
The index considers more than 30 qualitative and quantitative factors spanning five broad categories, weighted as follows: stability (25%), healthcare (20%), culture and environment (25%), education (10%), and infrastructure (20%).

India Ranked 34th On World Travel, Tourism Competitiveness Index

India has moved up six places to rank 34th on world travel and tourism competitiveness index, driven by rich natural and cultural resources and strong price competitiveness, according to WEF report.
India's ranking improved from 40th to 34th, the greatest improvement over 2017 among the top 25 per cent of all countries ranked in the report.
India, which accounts for the majority of South Asia's T&T (travel and tourism) GDP, remains the sub-region's most competitive T&T economy, moving up six places to rank 34th globally.
As per the report, China, Mexico, Malaysia, Thailand, Brazil and India -- which are not high-income economies but rank in the top 35 in the overall list -- stand out in the Cultural Resources and Business Travel Pillar through their combination of rich natural and cultural resources and strong price competitiveness.
From a sub-regional perspective, the nation (India) has better air infrastructure (33rd) and ground and port infrastructure (28th), international openness (51st) and natural (14th) and cultural resources (8th).
Compared to global benchmarks, the country can also add price competitiveness (13th) to its roster of strengths.
