Veteran Actor Javed Khan Amrohi Passes Away

Veteran actor Javed Khan Amrohi passed away. He was in his early 70s.
Veteran theatre and film actor Javed Khan Amrohi, is best known for his roles in the popular DD serial Nukkad and films such as Lagaan and Chak De! India.
After graduating from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Amrohi appeared in smaller yet pivotal roles in over 150 films and close to a dozen TV shows. He is best known for playing the barber Karim in the late 1980s TV show Nukkad; Anand Akela, one of the suitors of Raveena Tandon's character in Andaz Apna Apna; the cricket commentator in Lagaan, and a support staff of the Indian Women's Hockey team in Chak De! India.

Eminent Indian Painter Lalitha Lajmi Passes Away

Acclaimed Indian painter and printmaker Lalitha Lajmi passed away. She was 90.
Lajmi was born to a poet father and a poly-linguist writer-mother in Kolkata on October 17 in 1932. She is the sister of film director, producer, and actor, the late Guru Dutt.
Lajmi started her serious artistic journey as an artist in an exhibition of the Progressive Artists Group in 1960 at the Artist's Centre Bombay. A year later, she did her first solo show under the guidance of her mentor KH Ara.
Over the decades, Lajmi held several exhibitions at international art galleries in Paris, London and Holland. Her works are held in the collection of the National Gallery of Modern Art, the British Museum and CSMVS Museum Bombay.

Hyundai Motors India Signs Two more Women Cricketers as Ambassadors

Hyundai Motor India Ltd signed on two more women cricketers named Yastika Bhatia and Renuka Singh Thakur, to its roster of brand ambassadors. Bhatia and Thakur joined Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues. The company recognises these women as rising sport stars and that they will be a catalyst in this women's cricket calendar of 2023.
For this, it has announced the next edition of its 'The Drive Within' campaign with the five women cricketers. It celebrates world-renowned women cricketers and is a testament to years of gruelling training and hardships. The five individual stories will demonstrate their motivation and serve as a platform for encouraging budding sports talent in the country to win more accolades for India.

World Cup Skiing Medallist Elena Fanchini Dies

Italian skier Elena Fanchini passed at the age of 37. Elena Fanchini competed at three Winter Olympics and six World Championships for Italy, and she won a silver medal in the download at the 2005 World Championships. Her last race was in December 2017 after that she stepped away from the game due to her diagnosis.
Elena Fanchina was an Italian Alpine Ski Racer, she was born in Val Camonica and focused on the speed events of downhill and Super-G. Fanchini won two World Cup races downhill 9 years apart and won a silver medal at the 2005 world championships. She represented Italy at three Winter Olympics and four World Championships.

Myntra Signs Ranbir Kapoor as Brand Ambassador

Indian e-commerce company, Myntra announces the appointment of Ranbir Kapoor, as its brand ambassador. Kapoor will be seen focusing on men's fashion wear, in Myntra's upcoming brand campaign, 'Be Extraordinary Everyday', slated to go live shortly.
The brand's existing ambassador, Kiara Advani, will continue to drive awareness about the women's western wear category. Kapoor joins Tamannaah Bhatia, and Vijay Deverakonda in representing the brand. Advani has been the brand's ambassador since 2020.

Popular Artist B.K.S. Verma Passes Away

Popular artist B. K. S. Verma passed awa. Known for his romantic style of art, he was also popular for his stage shows, where he painted to poetry rendering or a dance performance before an audience.
Verma was born in Karnur village, Attibele, on the outskirts of Bengaluru in 1949 in a family of artists. His father was a musician and his mother a painter.
He was trained in art by the legendary art teacher A.N. Subbarao.
He was awarded the Rajyotsava Award in 2001 and an honorary doctorate by Bangalore University in 2011.
