The fifth edition of Sagarmatha Friendship, a joint military exercise between Nepal Army and the Peoples Liberation Army of China kicked off in Kathmandu.
There will be knowledge exchanged between the two armies during the 10-day long joint military exercise on matters related to disaster management, United Nations Peace Mission and counter-terrorism among others.
The joint military exercise is being organised in Nepal and China on rotation basis since 2017.
The exercise concludes on September 16.
Operation Rahat: Army Carrying Out Relief, Restoration Efforts in Flood-hit Regions
The Indian Army's Western Command, under 'Operation Rahat', is conducting extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions in the flood-affected regions of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir -- the states where nature's fury has claimed several lives and caused devastation.
So far 82 HADR missions have been executed with the deployment of 59 Army columns, including 17 Engineer Task Forces, leading to the evacuation of more than 6,000 citizens that includes approximately 300 paramilitary force personnel.

DRDO Conclave in Lucknow Highlights MSME role in Defence R&D
The Defence Research and Development Organisation's (DRDO) Defence Technology and Test Centre (DTTC), Lucknow organised a conclave at its Amausi campus and engaged with micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and start-ups for defence research and development as well as production. The event aimed to boost participation in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor.
More than 100 representatives from MSMEs, start-ups and Laghu Udhyog Bharti took part in the discussions, which focused on skill development, funding for research and development, technical consultancy and technology development and transfer by DRDO.

Defence Ministry Unveils 15-year Roadmap
The defence ministry spelt out acquisition plans worth several hundred billion dollars that include nuclear propulsion for surface ships, next-generation tanks, stealth unmanned combat aerial vehicles, hypersonic missiles, laser-based weapons and a range of drone and anti-drone systems.
The detailed plans, which list out the quantities and capabilities of over 200 individual weapon systems and technologies required by the armed forces over the next 15 years, will be of great value for the defence industry on where to direct research and development efforts.

First Training Squadron of Indian Navy in Seychelles
The Indian Navy's First Training Squadron (1TS), comprising INS Tir, INS Shardul, and the Coast Guard Ship (CGS) Sarathi, were at Seychelles' Port Victoria as part of its long-range training deployment in the south-western Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
This was the third Indian naval visit to Seychelles in 2025, reflecting the consistency and depth of bilateral defence cooperation. The deployment serves a dual role, providing hands-on operational exposure for naval cadets while advancing India's maritime diplomacy in the strategically significant western IOR.
