Indian Air Force to Conduct Exercise 'PRALAY' in North-eastern Part of India
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to conduct Exercise PRALAY from February 1 to 5 in the north-eastern sector of India amid the unresolved contention with China about differing perceptions regarding the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between the two nations. The exercise will involve major air bases of the IAF in the north-east in addition to the newly deployed drone squadron.
Exercise PRALAY will include major combat assets including the Rafale fighter in addition to Su-30 fighter jets and other transport aircraft.

Indian Navy Conducts 6-day Mega Exercise in Andhra Pradesh
The Indian Navy carried out a six-day-long mega military exercise along with the Army and the IAF near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. The largest biennial tri-services amphibious exercise AMPHEX 2023 was conducted from January 17 to 22.
The joint operations conducted during the exercise saw participation by a large number of troops from Indian Army, amphibious warships from Indian Navy and aircraft from the Indian Air Force.
The exercise included complex activities in all domains that demonstrated and validated the high level of preparedness and excellent coordination between the three services to undertake full spectrum of amphibious operations.

Inaugural Edition of Indo-Egypt Joint Training Exercise Cyclone - I Commences in Rajasthan
The first ever joint exercise between the special forces of the Indian Army and the Egyptian Army named "Exercise Cyclone-I" started at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. The exercise aims to bolster defence co-operation between the two nations and focus on sharing professional skills and interoperability of Special Forces in desert terrain while undertaking counter terrorism, reconnaissance, raids and other special operations.
Exercise "Cyclone - I" is the first exercise of its kind bringing the special forces of both the nations on a common platform. The 14 days long exercise which being carried out in the deserts of Rajasthan engages both the contingents to advance special forces skills such as Sniping, Combat Free Fall, Reconnaissance, Surveillance & Target Designation, sharing of information on weapons, equipment, innovations, tactics, techniques & procedures. The participants would also undertake joint planning and drills for Special Forces operations in a mechanised warfare setting as well as surgical strikes on terrorist camps/hideouts to include sniping of High Value Targets.

India Navy to Commission Fifth Scorpene-class Submarine Vagir
The Indian Navy will commission the fifth Scorpene-class submarine Vagir on January 23.
The commissioning of the submarine, built under the Project-75, is set to bolster the Navy's combat capability at a time when China has been increasing its presence in the Indian Ocean region.
The Project-75 includes indigenous construction of six submarines of Scorpene design.
The submarines are being constructed at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai under a collaboration with the Naval Group of France.
Four of the Kalvari-class submarines have already been commissioned into the Indian Navy.

A First for Indian Army: 108 Women to Hold Command Posts
Women officers in the Indian Army are set to climb the career ladder with the force conducting a special selection board to promote 108 of them to the rank of select-grade colonel for the first time in a move aimed at bringing about gender parity, offering them command assignments in select branches, and giving them new hard-earned identities.
As many as 244 women officers in the rank of lieutenant colonel were considered by the board for the 108 vacancies.
The women officers assessed by the selection board were from the 1992 to 2006 batch and were commissioned in various arms and services including Engineers, Signals, Army Air Defence, Intelligence Corps, Army Service Corps, Army Ordnance Corps, and Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
