Indian Army, IAF Conduct Joint Exercise along Western Borders

Indian Army's Shatrujeet Brigade and the Western Command conducted a joint exercise with the Indian Air Force along the western border. The joint exercise was carried out to deploy paratroopers with new-generation weapon systems in support of mechanised forces deep inside enemy territory to facilitate and enhance the operational reach of their own forces.
C-130J Super Hercules, C-17 Globemaster and AN-32 aircrafts were used to insert troops and specialised equipment into designated areas in the obstacle-ridden terrain with clinical precision.
The exercise was carried out in realistic tactical settings and showcased the speed, agility and lethality of the paratroopers to induct into a hostile environment, secure dropping zones, and engage the enemy with surprise, precision and speed.

Iran Successfully Launches Ballistic Missile 'Kheibar'

Iran successfully test-launched a ballistic missile with a potential 2,000-km range, two days after the chief of Israel's armed forces raised the prospect of action against Tehran over its nuclear programme.
Iran, which has one of the biggest missile programmes in the Middle East, said that its weapons are capable of reaching the bases of arch-foes Israel and the United States in the region.
The liquid-fuel missile is named the 'Kheibar', a reference to a Jewish castle overrun by Muslim warriors in the early days of Islam.
The domestically built Kheibar missile's outstanding features include quick preparation and launch time, which makes it a tactical weapon in addition to a strategic one.

Indian Navy Wants to Extend the Lease of US Sea Guardian Drones

With Quad nations joining hands on maritime domain awareness in the Indo-Pacific, India plans to speed up acquisition of armed drones from the US even as the Indian Navy is working towards extending the lease of two General Atomics manufactured Sea Guardian surveillance drones which expires in January 2024. The two Sea Guardian drones are based at Rajali Naval Base in Tamil Nadu.
While the cost of armed Predator drones (MQ-9B) will be a determining factor in the acquisition programme, the Indian Navy is satisfied with the output of its surveillance version, the Sea Guardian, since two of them were leased in 2020 for maritime domain surveillance.
Given the endurance of the drones, the Sea Guardians provide real time domain awareness from the eastern board of Africa and Gulf of Aden to Sunda Straits in Indonesia and beyond. The leased drones were also used to survey the Chinese build-up all along the LAC after the May 2020 aggression by the PLA in East Ladakh.

Garuda Aerospace and Naini Aerospace Collaborate to Manufacture Make in India Drones

Garuda Aerospace, a leading drone manufacturer, joined hands with Naini Aerospace, a subsidiary of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence, to establish a joint development partnership. This collaboration aims to enable Garuda Aerospace to manufacture Advanced Precision Drones within India for various applications. The partnership signifies a significant step towards achieving the Indian government's vision of producing 1 lakh Made in India drones by 2024.
Naini Aerospace Limited (NAeL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of HAL, brings its expertise in the production of aerostructures and aircraft loom manufacturing to the collaboration. NAeL was established in 2016 with the vision of sustainable manufacturing operations in the aerospace and aviation sector.
With Garuda Aerospace establishing its presence in Uttar Pradesh (UP), the collaboration will enhance delivery and access to clients across North, West, East, and Northeast regions of India. The factory's strategic location on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway, near Prayagraj city center, provides ease of transportation, which translates into cost efficiencies. Moreover, Naini, Prayagraj, is being considered for inclusion in the proposed defense industrial corridor of Uttar Pradesh, further enhancing the partnership's potential.

Indian Navy and Royal Saudi Naval Force Collaborate for Maiden Afloat Training of Saudi Cadet

In a major move aimed at enhancing cooperation between the Indian Navy and the Royal Saudi Naval Force, cadets from the latter are in India for 24 days of afloat training. Fifty-five cadets from the King Fahd Naval Academy, Saudi Arabia arrived in Kochi, the headquarters of India's Southern Naval Command, as part of their first-ever training with the Indian Navy.
The visitors from the friendly-foreign Navy arrived on board the Indian Navy's First Training Squadron (1TS) ships INS Tir and INS Sujata. During their stay in India, they will be undergoing hands-on training on various aspects of seamanship, navigation, firefighting and emergency drills, onboard the ships.

Vaghsheer, Indian Navy's Final Kalvari Class S/8ubmarine, Begins Sea Trials

The Indian Navy's sixth and final Kalvari class submarine, Vaghsheer, began its sea trials. Vaghsheer is scheduled for delivery to the Indian Navy in early 2024 after completion of these trials. The submarine was launched on April 20,2022 from the Kanhoji Angre Wet Basin of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL). The Ministry of Defence said MDL delivered' three submarines of the Project – 75 in 24 months and the commencement of sea trials of the sixth submarine is a significant milestone.
The commencement of sea trials for Vaghsheer, the sixth and final Kalvari class submarine built under Project-75, signifies a significant stride towards Aatma Nirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).
