IAF Develops Indigenous 'Vayulink' Platform for Jammer-proof Communication

  • The Indian Air Force came out with an innovative solution that would help pilots to deal with bad weather and also provide them jammer-proof uninterrupted communication with the base station.
  • Known as 'Vayulink', the data link communication uses the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) that is also known as NAVIC, to send radio communication to the base station when the signals are low.
  • The IAF had put up a gallery on Vayulink to provide information about its platform at the India Pavilion at the Aero India 2023e.
  • 'Vayulink' is an ad-hoc data link communication system, which when installed in an aircraft, gives position of other aircrafts close by, encrypted traffic data over secured channel.
  • The Vayulink system also prevents aircraft collision, provides better combat teaming and helps plan real-time basis where multiple teams can get together and go towards the target coming from different areas.
  • The advantage of the system is when you are going into combat, it prevents fratricide. It means, you are able to know where our ground forces are present.

Chandrayaan 3 Undergoes Key Test Successfully

  • As per Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the 'Chandrayaan-3' lander successfully underwent the Electro-Magnetic Interference/Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC) at the U. R. Rao Satellite Centre.
  • The EMI/EMC test is conducted for satellite missions to ensure the functionality of the satellite subsystems in the space environment and their compatibility with the expected electromagnetic levels.
  • This test is a major milestone in the realisation of the satellites.
  • According to the space agency, Chandrayaan-3 interplanetary mission has three major modules. They are - the Propulsion module, Lander module and Rover, and the mission's complexity calls for establishing radio-frequency (RF) communication links between the modules.
