Kamal Nath Implements Central Schemes

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath expedited the Central schemes held back because of the Lok Sabha elections after meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
After his return to Bhopal, the CM announced that the state government will provide data to the Centre for implementation of the NDA government's Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna.
At the same time, a cabinet sub-committee gave its nod to implementation of 10% reservation in government jobs and admissions in educational institutions for economically weaker sections (EWS) people in the upper castes in line with the NDA government's decision.

Punjab to Roll out health Cover Scheme

According to State Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, the Punjab government would launch its flagship universal health insurance scheme 'Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana' from July 2019.
The scheme will provide an annual health cover of Rs. 5 lakh per family and around 43.18 lakh families will be covered under it.
Besides all government hospitals, 364 private hospitals in Punjab have been empanelled for treatment.

Government to Introduce Ambulance-cycles

To help people get medical aid faster, the Haryana government announced that it decided to introduce motorcycle ambulances or "ambu-cycles" in the city.
The state government would use the assistance of the government of Israel for this venture.
Ambu-cycles are essentially motorcycles with all the necessary medical equipment found in an ambulance. Due to its size, they can reach an emergency spot faster than an ambulance and are useful in those areas of the city that have a high volume of traffic.
As per government officials, the service would initially be started in Gurugram and Faridabad.

Jagan Announces Waiver of Interest on Loans

In his first cabinet meeting after assuming office, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy announced waiver of interest on all crop loans to be availed by farmers in the next five years.
The government would pay interest to the banks concerned directly.
The cabinet also decided to constitute AP Rythu Commission (farmers' commission) to take care of all the needs of the farmers, including supply of inputs besides ensuring remunerative price for their produce.
The commission will be headed by the CM and comprise six to seven members, including representatives of farmers and agriculture experts.

Centre to Reintroduce Motor Vehicle Bill

The Centre plans to introduce a fresh draft of the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill, which lapsed with the dissolution of the 16th Lok Sabha in May, in the upcoming session of Parliament. The new draft is expected to address concerns over possible loss of revenue for Regional Transport Offices in the states as a result of a centralised system.
The Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill, 2017 aims to usher in reforms in the transport sector and would amend the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. It was passed by the Lok Sabha in 2017, but failed to get the Rajya Sabha approval.

Delhi's Health Scheme

As per Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi government's umbrella health scheme was "10 times bigger and comprehensive" than the Centre's scheme Ayushman Bharat programme.
The Centre-sponsored scheme aims to provide coverage of Rs. 5 lakh per family, annually, supposedly benefitting more than 10.74 crore poor families in relation to secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation through a network of empanelled healthcare providers.
Mr. Kejriwal said that the average citizen would be at a loss if the government's health scheme is replaced with Ayushman Bharat.
He also sought to draw a comparison between his government's scheme and Ayushman Bharat. Under the Ayushman Bharat there were less than 10% beneficiaries in Delhi while under the AAP government's scheme, every citizen constituting the Capital's population of two crore could be a beneficiary.
