After 214 Births, Government To Boost 'Jiyo Parsi' Scheme

  •  A government scheme that offers cash assistance to encourage Parsi couples to have children has resulted in 214 births over the last five years through assisted reproductive techniques (ART).
  • Buoyed by the results, the government is considering allocating more funds for the scheme for the next financial year (2020-21).
  • The Centre announced the Jiyo Parsi Scheme in September 2013 to check the declining Parsi population. According to the Union minority affairs ministry, the population declined from about 114,000 in 1941 to 57,264 in 2011.
  • There is no clarity on the fertility rate in the community, but ministry officials estimate it is under one per woman.

From 2021, No Assam Govt Jobs For Those With More Than Two Children

  •  The Assam Cabinet decided that no government jobs will be given to persons having more than two children after January 1, 2021.
  • The important decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting held late Monday evening that also adopted a New Land Policy, which will give three bighas of agricultural land to landless indigenous people and half a bigha for constructing a house.
  • A communique from the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal's public relations cell stated that those having more than two children will not be considered for government jobs with effect from January 1, 2021 as per the small family norm.

India Post Launches Mobile Banking App For Its Savings Account Customers

  •  India Post has launched a new mobile app to facilitate easier transactions for customers. The app is available on Google Play Store.
  • Customers can use it to make deposits into their PPF accounts and other schemes without having to visit the post office in person.
  • The Department of Post announced the app launch via a circular on October 14, 2019. The facility will be available to all savings account holders of core banking solutions (CBS)- enabled post offices.

Union Minister Arjun Munda Launches Van Dhan Internship Programme Of TRIFED

  •  Shri Arjun Munda, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs launched the "Van Dhan Internship Programme" organised by TRIFED under Ministry of Tribal Affairs. 
  • Shri Pravin Krishna, MD, TRIFED was present on the occasion. 18 interns (to be called Minister's interns) from some of the reputed Institutes of Rural Management/ Management Institutions/ Institutes of Social Work/ Social Services of the country are participating in the "Van Dhan Internship Programme". 
  • These interns have been selected to go and work on Van Dhan programme in the field. These interns have an inclination towards involving in matters related to tribal livelihood.

Food Safety Mitra Scheme Launched On The World Food Day

  •  On the occasion of World Food Day, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan launched Food Safety Mitra Scheme, Eat Right Jacket and Eat Right Jhola. 
  • Eat Right India and Fit India Campaign can prove to be a big success with the right strategy and implementation. The Minister urged people to reduce ghee and salt in food.
  •  Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has introduced scheme of Food Safety Mitra (FSM) through which it plans to engage motivated individuals with the food safety ecosystem at ground level
  • Eat Right Smart Jacket has been introduced to giving an identity to FSSAI staff to ensure transparent inspection.
  • It's embedded with an RFID tag and QR code. It is linked to software to capture entry of inspection staff into premise for monitoring.

CBIC And Customs Launch Scheme To Attract Investment And Support Make In India Programme

  •  The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has launched a new scheme expected to play a critical role in promoting investments in India and in enhancing ease of doing business.
  • The scheme can enable the 'Make in India' programme, encourage exports, create hubs for electronics assembly, repair & refurbishment operations, inward and outward processing, facilitate global e-commerce hubs etc.
  • CBIC has collaborated with Invest India to launch a dedicated microsite for providing information and promoting the scheme and for facilitation of investors. The site can be accessed at https://www.investindia.gov.in/bonded-manufacturing
  • The scheme aims to achieve its objective through manufacture and other operations under bond scheme, under Customs Act, 1962. Section 65 of the Customs Act, 1962 enables conduct of manufacture and other operations in a customs bonded warehouse.

Andhra govt launches water grid project

  •  The Andhra Pradesh government has launched an ambitious project to provide a drinking water connection to every household in the state by 2022.
  • Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister P Ramachandra Reddy said that the statewide water grid project would ensure supply of clean drinking water to every household from 2022 for at least next 30 years.
