MoS Sanjay Dhotre Launches Shala Darpan Portal For Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti

Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development Sanjay Dhotre launched the Shala Darpan Portal of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.
This will integrate all Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas with a common standard which includes around 636 schools and 2.67 million students.
This single integrated platform has been developed for information sharing and knowledge dissemination for the 22,000 employees and over 2 lakh students across schools and offices of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

Punjab Assembly Passes Bill Excluding CM's Advisers From Office-Of-Profit Category

Amid vociferous opposition, the Punjab Assembly passed a legislation excluding the six ruling Congress MLA appointed as advisers to the chief minister from the office-of-profit category.
The Punjab State Legislature (Prevention of Disqualification) Amendment Bill, 2019, was presented in the House by Punjab minister Brahm Mohindra on the concluding day of the special session of the Vidhan Sabha.
With this amendment, six Congress legislators--Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Kuljit Singh Nagra, Sangat Singh Gilzian, Inderbir Singh Bolaria, Kushaldeep Dhillon and Tarsem Singh DC--will not be disqualified for holding the office of profit.
The Punjab government had appointed six minister-rank advisers to CM Amarinder Singh.

Agriculture Ministry Told To Prepare 'Zero Edible Oil Import' Plan

The commerce ministry has asked the agriculture ministry to prepare a road map for India to attain self-sufficiency in edible oil production.
The need for a "zero edible oil import" plan was discussed by commerce minister Piyush Goyal at an inter-ministerial meeting.
India spends over Rs 70,000 crore to import about 15 MT edible oil to meet its annual requirement of 25 MT, making it one of the biggest buyers of the cooking medium.

Govt Approves Rs 25,000 Cr Fund To Complete Stalled Housing Projects

The government approved a Rs 25,000 crore fund to help complete over 1,600 stalled housing projects, including ones that have been declared NPAs or admitted for insolvency proceedings, as it looks to boost growth by steering consumption in real estate and associated sectors.
The move is likely to help 4.59 lakh housing units across the country.

Cabinet Approves Special Window For Funding Of Stalled Affordable And Middle-Income Housing Projects

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the establishment of a 'Special Window' fund to provide priority debt financing for the completion of stalled housing projects that are in the Affordable and Middle-Income Housing sector.
For the purposes of the fund, the government shall act as the Sponsor and the total commitment to be infused by the Government would be upto INR 10,000 crore.
The fund will be set up as a Category-11 AIF (Alternate Investment Fund) debt fund, registered with SEBI and would be run professionally.

Give Rs 100/Quintal To Farmers To Curb Stubble Burning, SC Tells State Govts

The Supreme Court sought immediate measures to stamp out stubble burning, in a bid to permanently end the annual air pollution woes of the national capital and the surrounding regions.
A top court bench ordered that all farmers be given a Rs 100 per quintal incentive to prevent them from setting their fields on fire in preparation for the next crop, and provide them free machines to get rid of the agriculture residue.
The bench also demanded an action plan within three weeks to deal with the problem from the Centre and the states in and around the National Capital Region.

Chhattisgarh Government not Implementing 'Nyay'

The Congress government in Chhattisgarh has decided to put implementation of Nyuntam Aay (Nyay), a major poll plank of the party in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, in abeyance.
Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel confirmed that the state government had decided against implementing the scheme, despite a directive from the party high command to Congress-ruled states.
The scheme was a promise at the central level. Congress could not win the elections.
The Baghel government has been struggling with massive debt since coming to power. Raman Singh-led BJP government's populist schemes ahead of assembly elections, especially free smart phones to women and youth, put huge burden on the exchequer.
When Baghel came to power in November 2018, the state government had to deal with a debt of ₹50,000 crore and had to take a loan from the World Bank.
The government has also started implementing its promise of 'gothaan', a dedicated place in every gram panchayat for cattle grazing and rest during the day.
Though the government says it's in a position to take a loan of ₹12,000 crore, it would not be able to fulfil another cash intensive scheme like Nyay, which was the centerpiece of Congress' Lok Sabha campaign, with a catchy slogan 'Ab Hoga Nyay'.

Govt Unveils Two IT Initiatives for Faster Clearance of Imported Goods

The government unveiled two new IT initiatives, ICEDASH and ATITHI, for improved monitoring and pace of customs clearance of imported goods.
These initiatives will also facilitate arriving international passengers with e-filing of baggage and currency declarations.
Launching the initiatives, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman lauded the measures taken by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) to leverage technology for providing better taxpayer services.

Govt Releases New Map Of India Showing UTs of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh

The goverment released the maps of newly created Union Territories (UTs) of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh and the map of India depicting these UTs.
In a statement, the Ministry of Home Affairs said the UT of Ladakh consists of two districts of Kargil and Leh while the rest of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir is in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
In 1947, the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir had the following 14 districts - Kathua, Jammu, Udhampur, Reasi, Anantnag, Baramulla, Poonch, Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Leh and Ladakh, Gilgit, Gilgit Wazarat, Chilhas and Tribal Territory.
