NHAI Readies Launch of First Government-Sponsored InvIT
India's first government-sponsored Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) could be operationalised by March this year.
Around six road assets worth Rs 5,000 crore have been given in-principle approval for transfer to the InvIT.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which received approval from the Union cabinet to float the InvIT in December 2019, is in the process of legal vetting of the financing instrument.
NHAI has been actively working on setting up an InvIT to monetise its completed and operational national highways projects with the objective of mobilising additional resources through capital markets.

Government Approves Central Sector Scheme For Industrial Development Of Jammu & Kashmir
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in its meeting considered and approved the proposal of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade for Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of Jammu & Kashmir.
The scheme is approved with a total outlay of Rs. 28,400 crore up to the year 2037.
Government of India has formulated New Industrial Development Scheme for Jammu & Kashmir (J&K IDS, 2021) as Central Sector Scheme for the development of Industries in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
The main purpose of the scheme is to generate employment which directly leads to the socio-economic development of the area.
Considering the historic development of reorganization of Jammu & Kashmir with effect from 31.10.2019 into UT of Jammu & Kashmir under the J&K Reorganisation Act, 2019, the present scheme is being implemented with the vision that industry and service led development of J&K needs to be given a fresh thrust with emphasis on job creation, skill development and sustainable development by attracting new investment and nurturing the existing ones.

MP Launches 'Launch Pad Scheme' to Make Youth Self-reliant
The government of Madhya Pradesh has launched a 'Launch Pad Scheme' for the boys and girls coming out of child care institutions and having completed 18 years of age. This scheme has been launched by the Women and Child Development Department of the state with the objective to provide a platform to these youths, through which they will be able to become self-reliant by continuing their education and training.
Under the scheme:
The District Administration will provide space to these youths for the opening of coffee shops, stationery, photocopying, computer typing and DTP work.
All the 52 districts of the state have been divided into 5 clusters with headquarters at Indore, Sagar, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Bhopal.
An amount of Rs. 6 lakh will be provided by the Women and Child Development Department for the installation of each launch pad.
These launch pads will be operated through non-governmental organisations.
UJALA and SLNP Schemes Complete Six Years
The UJALA (Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All) and SLNP (Street Lighting National Programme) completed six years of successful implementation. The two programmes revamped the household and public lighting system across the country.
Under UJALA, the EESL distributed 6.69 crores of LED bulbs. It has installed more than 1.14 crores of LED street lights. This has helped to save more than 55.33-billion-kilowatt hour of energy per year.
The scheme helped to reduce Greenhouse gas emissions by 38.59 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
The scheme distributed 72 lakhs of LED tube lights and 23 lakhs of energy efficient fans at affordable prices.
Under SLNP the EESL installed more than 1.1 crores of LED street lights under SLNP. This helped to save 7.67-billion-kilowatt hour of energy per year.
The scheme helped to reduce the greenhouse gas emission by 5.29 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
With the help of the scheme the municipalities were able to save 5,210 crores of Rupees in their electricity bills.

India Forms Committee to Support Exports of Military Platforms
The government of India has established a committee to support exports of military platforms.
The new committee will provide "faster approvals" for international sales of "major military platforms" including coastal surveillance systems, radar and air platforms, and the Akash surface-to-air missile system.
The committee will comprise India's Defence Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the country's national security advisor, which leads the government's National Security Council.
The new committee will focus on platforms as opposed to components and subsystems, with the aim to improve defence products and make them globally competitive.

Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Approves Ordinance on Interfaith Marriages
The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approved the Dharma Swatantrata (Religious Freedom) Ordinance.
The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approved the bill. The bill provides for up to 10 years in jail for anyone found guilty of forcing women, minors, and people from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to undergo religious conversion.
Under this legislation, the re-conversion to the ancestral religion will not be treated as conversion, said the draft law. It defines ancestral religion as the religion of the father of the person at the time of his birth.
Madhya Pradesh is the third BJP-ruled state to clear anti-Love Jihad bill after Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
