Bengal Govt Bags WSIS Award for its Sabuj Sathi Scheme

After Kanyashree scheme, another West Bengal government project has received a global prize. The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) handed over the winner prize 2020 to the state government for Sabuj Sathi project through a virtual ceremony.
Sabuj Sathi had contested with 800 projects from across the globe to become the "winner" under the e-government category.
S K Thade, principal secretary and officer-on-special duty of the Backward Classes Welfare Department, received the prize on behalf of the state government.

Trump Nobel Peace Prize Nomination

Less than two months before the US election, President Donald Trump seems to have something to celebrate - a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.
A far-right Norwegian politician has put Mr Trump's name forward for the 2021 prize, citing the president's role in the recent peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

David Attenborough Awarded Indira Gandhi Peace Prize

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh conferred the Indira Gandhi Peace Prize on British broadcaster David Attenborough at a virtual event.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi was also present during the online award function.
Accepting the award for the year 2019, Attenborough said that we have to change from being nationalists to being international.
The Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development was instituted in the memory of the former Prime Minister by a trust in her name in 1986. It consists of a monetary award of Rs. 25 lakh along with a citation.
The award is given to individuals or organisations who work towards ensuring international peace and development, ensuring that scientific discoveries are used to further the scope of freedom and better humanity, and creating new international economic order.

Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank Confers CBSE Teachers Award

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank felicitated and conferred CBSE Teachers Award to 38 teachers and principals of CBSE affiliated schools during an online ceremony in New Delhi.
These awards were presented for the year 2019-20 in honour of the teachers and principals for their valuable contribution towards improving school education, innovation and dedication.
Each award reportedly consists of a Merit Certificate, a shawl and an amount of Rs. 50,000. The applicants are evaluated on the basis of General and Specific criterion under each category and several parameters related to school education and their contribution. The 38 awardees are Primary and, Middle-Level Teachers, Language teachers, Science, Social Science, Physical Education, Mathematics, Economics, IT, Fine Arts teachers, School Counsellors, Vice-Principals and Principals.

Ageing Nepal Bags UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize

Ageing Nepal, the organisation working for the well being and rights of the senior citizens in Nepal, has received the UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize.
The prize carries a purse of USD 20,000.
Ageing Nepal was awarded the prize for our work on Education for senior citizens as their rights. We have been running Basic Literacy Class for senior citizens since 2016.
Established in 1989 with the support of the Government of the Republic of Korea, the prize is presented to two organisations annually.

President Ram Nath Kovind Honours Teachers with National Teachers Award 2020

The President of India Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion of Teachers' Day felicitated 47 teachers across India with National Teachers Awards 2020. The award giving ceremony this year was conducted virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.
President Kovind congratulated the winners and shared some visuals of the ceremony in his official Twitter handle. He lauded the teachers for their hard and dedication towards students and wished them on the occassion.
The National Teachers' Awards is conferred to celebrate the selfless contribution of teachers for improving the quality of education but also made a huge difference in the lives of their students.
