People's Choice Awards Winners List

2020 People's Choice Awards was held on November 16. The awards, as the name suggests, are decided on the basis of voting by fans and the general public.
Bad Boys for Life, BTS, Hamilton, The Kissing Booth 2, Keeping Up with the Kardashians were the big winners. The award ceremony also featured performances by Justin Bieber and Chloe x Halle.

HelpAge India Receives the '2020 UN Population Award'

It was a milestone moment for India and it's premier charitable organization in the ageing sector, HelpAge India, which has been chosen as laureate in the 'institutional category' for the 2020 United Nations Population Award.
The selection comes in recognition of the organization's contribution towards serving the disadvantaged elderly and raising awareness on the cause of the elderly.
This Global Award is a first for HelpAge India which has been working for the past 4 decades for the cause and care of disadvantaged elderly in India, serving their needs in a holistic manner, empowering and enabling them to live active, dignified and healthier lives. Working in over 20 States across India since 1978, it runs numerous programs on-ground addressing elder needs such as age care, healthcare, livelihoods and advocates for pension & elder friendly policies.

Fertiliser Association of India Golden Jubilee Award

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University's Director of Research and NABARD Chair, K. S. Subramanian bagged the Fertiliser Association of India Golden Jubilee Award. The award pertains to his outstanding contribution in the field of nano-fertilizers and its role in improved use efficiency while ensuring environmental safety.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh and a gold medal. Subramanian is to receive the award next month.
The research director, who incidentally is also the founder Head of the Department of Nano Science & Technology has worked on design and fabrication of nano-agri inputs, nano-preservation of fruits, nano-sensors besides biosafety of nano-products. He has helped ICAR develop a research framework for nanotechnology, obtained research grants of more than Rs. 25 crore through International and National funding agencies.

Sadat Rahman Wins the International Children's Peace Prize

Sadat Rahman , a 17-year-old Bangladeshi boy, won the International Children's Peace Prize for his work combating cyberbullying in his country, and he vowed to keep fighting online abuse until it is eradicated.
Rahman developed a mobile phone app that provides education about online bullying and a way to report cases after he heard the story of a 15-year-old girl who took her own life as a result of cyberbullying.
The award is accompanied by a fund of 1,00,000 euros (USD 1,18,225), which is invested by the KidsRights Foundation in projects that are closely linked to the winner's work.
Previous high-profile winners of the prize include Pakistani human rights advocate Malala Yousafzai, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and the students who organized the March For Our Lives after the deadly mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Mirror NOW Bags Five News Television Awards

Mirror NOW, which is part of India's premium broadcast network, Times Network, has won five awards at the News Television Awards 2020 hosted by Indiantelevision.com.
The TV channel, which focuses on issues impacting people's lives, was conferred with the 'Best Investigation by a News Channel' award for its reports that revealed a crumbling health infrastructure during the peak of Covid pandemic across metros. Mirror NOW's expose in Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi forced the respective governments to take note of the crisis and act.
The channel was also awarded with 'Best Show on Social/Environment Awareness/ Social Development' for its campaign about Tarun, a missing autistic teenager, and the plight of his parents who had been searching for him for 91 days due to the negligence of police officials. Mirror NOW's Neha Hebbale was chosen for the 'Best Young TV Journalist' award for her reportage on various issues, including the 2019 floods in Karnataka and the migrants crisis during the lockdown, while the channel's senior video journalist Nitin Phadtare bagged the 'Best Cameraman' award. The Times of India's Mumbai Manifesto campaign won the 'Best Brand Partnership on News Television' award for which Mirror NOW was the television channel partner.
