Zila Parishad School Teacher Wins National ICT Award 2018

  • Zilla Parishad school teacher from Osmanabad in Maharashtra was chosen for the prestigious National ICT Award instituted by the Union government.
  • Umesh Khose, employed as a primary school teacher in Kad-dora village in Lohara tehsil was chosen for 2018 for using 'Information and Communication Technology' through gadgets like television, tab, mobile, and projectors as well as PDFs to ensure students learn in a better way.
  • The awards, for the years 2018 and 2019, were announced by the Central Institute of Educational Technology under the National Council of Educational Research and Training (CIET-NCERT) in 2021.

Six Teachers from T.N. Win National ICT Awards

  • Six government school teachers from Tamil Nadu have been selected for the National ICT Awards given by the Central Institute of Educational Technology, NCERT, New Delhi, for the years 2018 and 2019.
  • The awards are given annually as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, to motivate teachers to use ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in school education and in their classrooms in a big way.
  • For the year 2018, S. Ganesh, Manohar Subramanian, and K.B. Dhayananth are among the 25 awardees selected from across the country. For 2019, Senthil Selvan, Thangaraja Mahadevan and R. Elavarasan are among the 24 awardees.

Rajendra Kishore Panda Bags Kuvempu Rashtriya Puraskar

  • The Kuvempu Rashtriya Puraskar, the national award instituted in memory of late poet laureate Kuvempu, has been awarded to renowned Odia poet Dr. Rajendra Kishore Panda for the year 2020. The prestigious award carries a cash award of Rs. 5 lakh, a silver medal, and a citation.
  • Dr. Panda writes in the Odia language. He has published 16 poetry collections and a novel. He is a major Indian poet who steered the path of modern Odia poetry to great heights. He was awarded the Gangadhar National Award in 2010 and the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1985.
  • Founded in 1992, Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Trust instituted this national annual literary award in 2013 in the name of Kuvempu to recognize litterateurs who had contributed in any language recognised by the Constitution of India.

'Decoding Shankar', Wins at Toronto International Women's Film Festival

  • Freelance filmmaker Deepti Pillay Sivan's most touted documentary, "Decoding Shankar" about the life and career of the celebrated musician Shankar Mahadevan, recently won the Best Film Award in the Documentary section (Best Biographical) at the Toronto International Women Film Festival, 2021.
  • The 52-minute docu-film released a few years ago is a sketch of the life of the prolific musician focusing on how he balances his career as a singer, music composer, and teacher. The film gives interesting tidbits about his family life and shares interesting moments about his passion for cooking.

JMI Student Gets the Diana Award 2021

  • Kaif Ali, a 4th-year student of the bachelor of architecture (B.Arch), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has been awarded the prestigious The Diana Award 2021 for his innovation— 'Covid-19 Innovation space era'.
  • Last year, as the COVID-19 pandemic took center stage, Kaif began to research how architecture could help prevent the spread of disease. He designed a prefabricated sustainable shelter that would not only help reduce transmission of the virus but could also house refugees worldwide in the future.
  • Established in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, the award is given out by the charity of the same name and has the support of both her sons, The Duke of Cambridge and The Duke of Sussex. It is one of the most prestigious accolades a young person can receive for their social action or humanitarian work.

Journalist P. Sainath Wins Japan's Fukuoka Grand Prize

  • Journalist P. Sainath has been awarded the Fukuoka Grand Prize for 2021. The award, established by Japan's Fukuoka metropolis and the Fukuoka City International Foundation, is given to people and organisations for his or her work in preserving Asian tradition.
  • The Fukuoka Prize Committee mentioned Sainath is a dedicated journalist who has continued to analyze impoverished farming villages in India and captured the fact of the approach to life of the residents in such areas.

RK Sabharwal Gets Highest Civilian Award of Mongolia

  • Engineers India Limited (EIL) Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), RK Sabharwal has been honoured with the highest civilian award of Mongolia 'The Order of Polar Star' by his excellency. The President of Mongolia recognises the outstanding contribution made by him towards the establishment of the first-ever oil refinery in Mongolia. On behalf of the government of Mongolia, this award was presented by His Excellency, the Ambassador of Mongolia to India, Gonching Ganbold, at a ceremony organised at the Embassy of Mongolia.
  • The 'Order of Polar Star' is the most desirable and prestigious state award bestowed by the President of Mongolia which is highly valuable and distinguished and recognises individuals who have made an invaluable contribution with their outstanding hard work, intelligence and sincerity to the prosperity of Mongolia and its friendship with other nations, as well for outstanding contributions in the fields of arts, culture, science and humanity.
