Queen Elizabeth II rejects 'Oldie of the Year' award

Queen Elizabeth II is Britain's longest-lived and longest-reigning monarch. But don't call her an oldie.
The 95-year-old queen has politely declined the honor of being named "Oldie of the Year" by a British magazine, saying she does not meet "the relevant criteria."
The Oldie magazine published the queen's response to its suggestion that she follow in the footsteps of former recipients, including former Prime Minister John Major, actor Olivia de Havilland and artist David Hockney.

Indian agri Waste Recycling Project Wins Prince William's Earthshot Prize

A Delhi-based entrepreneur's agricultural waste recycling project was named among the winners of Prince William's inaugural Earthshot Prize, dubbed the "Eco Oscars", at a gala ceremony in London.
Vidyut Mohan led Takachar was named the winner of the GBP 1 million prize for its cheap technology innovation to convert crop residues into sellable bio-products in the clean our air category.
It was among five worldwide winners of the prize, created by Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, to reward people trying to save the planet.
Takachar was named a winner for its technology which reduces smoke emissions by up to 98%, aimed at helping improve the air quality that currently reduces the affected population's life expectancy by up to five years.

Indian American Scientist Gets Lifetime Achievement Award

Indian American scientist Dr. Vivek Lall was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at Ritossa Family Summits in Dubai.
Dr. Lall, who is known for playing a key role in enhancing India-U.S. defence trade and instrumental in some of the top deals between the two countries was presented with the award in recognition of his outstanding vision, dedication and success.
The award was given to Dr. Lall in the presence of U.A.E. Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr. Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.

James Sangma wins 2021 PETA Award

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) named Meghalaya Environment and Forest Minister James Sangma as the winner of the Progressive Business Concept Award for promoting vegan pineapple leather.
Apart from encouraging farmers in the State to go for pineapple leather production, Mr. Sangma also had plans to open a climate change museum and introduce climate change in the school curricula.
According to the International Society for Horticultural Science, Meghalaya contributed to about 8% of the total pineapple produced in India.

Indian American Satya Nadella, the Microsoft CEO, is among the corporate leaders to receive this year's prestigious C. K. Prahlad Award for Global Business Sustainability Leadership.
Created in 2010 the prestigious award recognises exceptional, globally significant private-sector action that exemplifies the fundamental connection between sustainability, innovation and long-term business success in a globalizing world.

Dr. Randeep Guleria Bags 22nd Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award

AIIMS Delhi Director Dr. Randeep Guleria was honoured with the 22nd Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence for his pioneer and sustained contribution in the field of medicine and pandemic awareness.
Dr. Guleria was conferred the prestigious award by Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu who called him "commander-in-chief" of India's dedicated army of frontline warriors who have been selflessly waging a tireless battle against COVID-19.
