Actor Rajinikanth was honoured with the prestigious 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 67th National Film Awards ceremony, for his contribution as an actor, producer and screenwriter. He received the prestigious award from Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu for his stupendous contribution to Indian cinema.
Instituted in 1969, the award is the highest honour for an artiste in Indian cinema. The award was decided by a jury consisting of five members: Asha Bhonsle, director Subhash Ghai, Mohanlal, Shankar Mahadevan and actor Biswajeet Chatterjee. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2019 was to be announced last year but was postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic, as were the National Film Awards for 2019.

Presentation ceremony of the 67th National Film Awards was held at Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan. The awards were presented by Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu. The awards included the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award, which was presented to Rajinikanth.
The Best Feature Film went to Priyadarshan's Malayalam period epic Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea. While Kangana Ranaut won Best Actress for her performances in Manikarnika and Panga, the Best Actor went to Manoj Bajpayee for Bhonsle and Dhanush for Asuran. Vivek Agnihotri's The Tashkent Files got Best Dialogue and his wife Pallavi Joshi got the Best Supporting Actress award for the same film. Best Hindi Film went to Chhichhore, starring the late Sushant Singh Rajput. B Praak got the National Award for the Best Male Playback Singer for the patriotic song Teri Mitti from his war-drama Kesari.

Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at 52nd IFFI
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur announced that Istvan Szabo and Martin Scorsese will be conferred the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the 52nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.
The 52nd edition of IFFI will be held from November 20 to 28 in Goa. For the first time ever, IFFI has invited major OTT players to participate in the festival. Istvan Szabo is one of the most critically acclaimed Hungarian film directors of the past few decades known for masterpieces like Mephisto (1981) Father (1966).
Martin Scorsese is one of the major figures of the New Hollywood era, widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential directors in film history.

Parambikulam Tiger Conservation Foundation wins Earth Guardian Award
The Parambikulam Tiger Conservation Foundation (PaTCoF) has won the "Earth Guardian Award" which was instituted by the NatWest Group.
PaTCoF is a non-profit organisation under forest department which seeks to facilitate conservation of tiger and biodiversity in the Parambikulam tiger reserve.
Eight winners of the award were felicitated by secretary general of "UN Convention on International Trade in the Endangered Species of Wild Fauna & Flora", Ivonne Higuero in a virtual ceremony in October 2021.
These awards were instituted by NatWest Group India. They are part of an initiative which recognises the efforts of individuals and institutions that are working to subvert the climate change by conserving & preserving biodiversity in India.
Parambikulam Tiger Reserve also includes erstwhile Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, which is spread across 391 square kilometres. It is a protected area in Palakkad district of Kerala. It was established in 1973. The sanctuary lies in the Sungam range of hills in between Anaimalai Hills and Nelliampathy Hills. Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary was declared a part of Parambikulam Tiger Reserve in 2010. Tiger reserve implements the Participatory Forest Management Scheme (PFMS).

Jailed Alexei Navalny Wins EU's Sakharov Prize
Imprisoned Russian Opposition leader Alexei Navalny was awarded the European Union's top human rights prize in a clear slap to President Vladimir Putin.
In awarding the Sakharov Prize to Mr. Navalny, the European Parliament praised his immense personal bravery. The activist was poisoned with a nerve agent last year and promptly arrested upon his return to Moscow from treatment in Germany and later imprisoned.
He has campaigned consistently against the corruption of Vladimir Putin's regime, and through his social media accounts and political campaigns, Navalny has helped expose abuses and mobilise the support of millions of people across Russia.
