World Peace and Understanding Day

Every year, people across the globe celebrate World Peace and Understanding Day on February 23 with great splendour. The World Peace and Understanding Day also termed as Special Day, has its own importance as it encourages harmony, compassion, and collaboration among individuals hailing from different religions, cultures and geography.
The day commemorates the first meeting of Rotary International —an NGO dedicated to humanitarian service, peace, and goodwill across the world —that took place in Chicago, US.

World Thinking Day

World Thinking Day is an annual celebration observed on February 22 by Girl Guides and Girl Scouts worldwide. It is a day dedicated to promoting international friendship and harmony, sisterhood and raising awareness and empowering the Girl Scouts and Guides around the world and addressing the issues faced by young girls and women.
World Thinking Day was first celebrated in 1926 when representatives from Girl Guide and Girl Scout organisations around the world gathered for the 4th World Conference at the Edith Macy Conference Centre in New York, USA. The date was selected in honour of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting Movement, and Lady Olave Baden-Powell, the first World Chief Guide, as they both shared the same birthday.
The theme for World Thinking Day 2025 is 'Our Story.'

International Mother Language Day

International Mother Language Day, commemorated every year on February 21, was established by UNESCO in 1999 to highlight the importance of languages in our lives. The day promotes multilingualism and cultural diversity. It reminds us of the vital role language plays in personal and cultural identity as well as in achieving sustainable development.
The theme for International Mother Language Day 2025 is 'Silver Jubilee Celebration of International Mother Language Day'.

Mizoram Foundation Day

Mizoram Foundation Day is celebrated every year on February 20 to honour the north-eastern state's accomplishment of statehood in 1987. It was on this day that the Lushai Hills Autonomous District Council was raised to the status of a complete state, turning into the 23rd state of India.
The historical backdrop of Mizoram traces all the way back to 1961, when the Mizo National Front (MNF) was formed by local Mizo tribal leaders to request political rights. The MNF's essential goal was to protect the privileges of the Mizo people and promote their consideration in the public eye. To that end, the MNF launched a fierce revolt against the government of India in 1966.
The insurgency, which went on for two decades, at last brought about the peace accord between the government of India and the MNF in 1986. This historic agreement prepared for the foundation of Mizoram as a state of India on February 20, 1987.

World Anthropology Day

World Anthropology Day 2025 is celebrated every year on third Thursday of February and in 2025 it falls on February 20.
World Anthropology Day was started in 2015 by the American Anthropological Association to help people learn more about the study of humans and their cultures.
World Anthropology Day is important because it helps people understand human cultures, traditions, and societies. It gives anthropologists a chance to share their work with the public and show how their research helps solve real-world problems.

World Day of Social Justice

World Day of Social Justice is observed on February 20 to promote fairness and equality for all citizens. The day is dedicated to raising awareness about social injustice and breaking down barriers based on gender, racism, inequality, religious discrimination, etc.
In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly declared February 20 as World Day of Social Justice as part of its efforts to promote social justice, solidarity and equal distribution of resources around the world. The first celebration was held in 2009 to draw attention to issues such as poverty, unequal treatment and a lack of employment opportunities.
The theme for World Day of Social Justice 2025 is 'Empowering Inclusion: Bridging Gaps for Social Justice', which highlights the necessity of providing equal opportunity to everyone, regardless of their background.

Arunachal Pradesh Foundation Day, also known as Arunachal Pradesh Statehood Day, is a significant occasion in the history of the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, India. This state holiday is observed annually on 20^th February to commemorate the formation of the state as the 24^th state of India.
