World Brain Day

World Brain Day, observed every year on July 22, is dedicated to raising global awareness about brain health and promoting preventive strategies to protect brain function across all ages. The day emphasises the importance of maintaining cognitive well-being, preventing neurological disorders, and empowering individuals to make lifestyle changes that support a healthy brain.
World Brain Day was initiated by the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) in collaboration with various global neurological associations. The aim was to spotlight neurological conditions and encourage early interventions and research.
The theme for World Brain Day 2025 is 'Brain Health for All Ages'.

National Flag Day (India)

National Flag Day in India is celebrated annually on July 22 to commemorate the historic day when the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the present-day tricolour flag as the official National Flag of the country. The occasion also serves as a platform to appreciate and raise public awareness about the flag's role in symbolising India's independence, unity, and rich heritage.
The history of Indian National Flag Day traces back to the early 20^th century and culminates in its formal adoption by the Constituent Assembly in 1947.

International Chess Day

International Chess Day is celebrated annually on July 20, a date chosen to commemorate the founding of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) in 1924.
The idea for International Chess Day was proposed by UNESCO in 1966, and since then, it has been celebrated by chess enthusiasts around the globe. The selection of July 20 as the date for this celebration aligns with the establishment of FIDE, which has played a pivotal role in the promotion and regulation of chess as a competitive sport.

International Moon Day

International Moon Day, celebrated every year on July 20, commemorates the historic first human landing on the Moon by the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. Declared by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 2021, this observance highlights not only the achievements of the past but also promotes international cooperation, peaceful use of outer space, and the need for sustainable Moon exploration. It serves as a global platform to encourage public awareness and collaborative efforts for the future of lunar exploration and utilisation.
The first global celebration of International Moon Day took place on July 20, 2022.

Nelson Mandela International Day

Nelson Mandela International Day, observed annually on July 18, commemorates the birth of Nelson Mandela, South Africa's first Black President and a global icon of peace, justice, and reconciliation. Recognised by the United Nations in 2009, the day promotes the values Mandela stood for—freedom, dignity, equality, and human rights.
The idea of Nelson Mandela Day was first introduced by the Nelson Mandela Foundation in 2009 and was later officially adopted by the UN General Assembly.
The theme for Nelson Mandela International Day 2025 is 'It's still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity'.
