World Population Day

World Population Day is an annual event, observed on July 11 every year. It seeks to raise awareness of global population issues. The event was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989. It was inspired by the public interest in Five Billion Day on July 11, 1987, the approximate date on which the world's population reached five billion people. World Population Day aims to increase people's awareness on various population issues such as the importance of family planning, gender equality, poverty, maternal health and human rights.
The day was suggested by Dr. K.C.Zachariah when he worked as Sr. Demographer at World Bank.
"How to safeguard the health and rights of women and girls now" amid the pandemic is the theme of this year's (2020) World Population Day.

India-EU summit to be Held Via Video Conference

The fifteenth summit between India and the European Union will be held on July 15 via video conference. MP Modi will hold talks with President of the European Council Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on a range of issues in the summit.
The summit is aimed at delivering concrete benefits for the people in the EU and India, the officials said, adding the leaders will discuss ways to boost cooperation in areas of security, climate, environment, trade and investment, digital economy and connectivity.

PM Modi Addresses Inaugural Session of 3-day Virtual India Global Week 2020

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural session of 3-day virtual India Global week 2020 based on the theme 'Be The Revival: India and a Better New World' organised in the UK (United Kingdom) by India Inc. Group, the UK-headquartered media house with the aim to connect global leaders and captains of industry to discuss aspects relating to opportunities in India as well as the global economic revival post-coronavirus (COVID-19).
The event witnessed the participation of 5,000 global leaders from 30 nations and is being addressed by 250 global speakers in 75 sessions that cover subject areas such as geopolitics, business, emerging technologies, banking and finance, pharma, defence and security, and arts and culture.

US Celebrates Independence Day

The US celebrated Independence Day or July 4th Day which has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941 to mark the birth of American Freedom. On this day in 1776, a Declaration of Independence drafted by Thomas Jefferson, was adopted by 13 colonies, enabling the independence of the United States from the British Empire.
The famous 4th July fireworks in the District of Columbia remained the highlight of the day, alongside a National Independence Day Parade in Washington DC but this year the celebration is different as the country is the worst-hit nation by the deadly coronavirus leading to the cancellation of events.
To mark the celebration US President Trump and first lady Melania Trump attended South Dakota's US Independence Day Mount Rushmore fireworks celebrations at Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota.

World UFO Day

World UFO Day is marked every year on July 2. UFOs grabbed attention after the Roswell incident in New Mexico, sometime in July 1947. A 'flying object' had reportedly crashed at a ranch in Roswell, the owner had claimed and remnants were also found. The US military had later said that it was just a weather balloon and since then several conspiracy theories emerged across the world.

Canada Day

Canada Day is the national day of Canada. A federal statutory holiday, it celebrates the anniversary of July 1, 1867, the effective date of the Constitution Act, 1867 (then called the British North America Act, 1867), which united the three separate colonies of the Province of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada. Originally called Dominion Day, the holiday was renamed in 1982, the year in which the Canadian Constitution was patriated by the Canada Act 1982. Canada Day celebrations take place throughout the country, as well as in various locations around the world, attended by Canadians living abroad.

Doctor's Day

In India, Doctor's Day is celebrated on 1st July each year. This day is celebrated to thank the doctors and physicians for their dedicated service. The first National Doctors' day was celebrated in July 1991. This day offers an opportunity to express gratitude towards doctors for round the clock service they offer. In India, this day marks the birth as well as the death anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy who was one of the most renowned physicians in India. Doctor's Day 2020 tries to thank all doctors and medical professionals for their continuous service for the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In India, this day is organised by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). According to IMA, Doctors Day of 2020 is of special importance. Every member of IMA and the local branch take a lead in the local area and bring about a change in the current situation (Covid-19 pandemic). Doctor's Day of 2020 is dedicated to the innumerable doctors who are serving during this epidemic in the primary and secondary care setups as well as the dedicated COVID care hospitals.
The theme of this year's Doctor's Day is "Lessen the mortality of COVID 19". This includes awareness about asymptomatic hypoxia and early aggressive therapy.
Doctor's Day is observed on different dates across the world.

National Postal Worker Day

Each year on July 1, the National Postal Worker Day is celebrated across the globe. As the name suggests, the National Postal Worker's Day is observed in order to create more awareness about the contribution of Postal Workers in our society. The National Postal Worker's Day promotes individuals to appreciate postal professionals for their work and thank them for their work.
The Postal Worker Day history has its roots from Seattle, United States of America. Back in the year 1997, a popular postal service provider-initiated this day. The main purpose of establishing a National Postal Worker Day was to felicitate and honour the co-postal workers for their dedication. As per reports, in the US a single postal employee walks over 4-8 miles a day. They carry heavy packages and bags, full of mails and deliver at the recipient's doorstep well in time.
