Liberation Day Celebrations

Kalaburagi is all decked up for the celebrations marking the 73rd anniversary of Kalyana Karnataka (Hyderabad Karnataka) Liberation Day on September 17, a red letter day in the annals of the freedom movement of the region when it was liberated from the Nizam's rule.
The main roads in the city are decorated with giant colourful entrance arches and the many government offices are decked up with lights matching the festive spirit.
The district administration has chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the occasion on a grand scale.

Global Ayurveda Summit, Being Held Online, Inaugurated

The 4th edition of Global Ayurveda Summit was virtually inaugurated by Vice-President Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu on the theme "Emerging Opportunities for Ayurveda during Pandemic".
The objective of the summit is to showcase the Ayurveda immunity model to the global level as a solution named 'Health as One' and 'Immunity through Ayurveda'.
Global Ayurveda Summit is being organized by the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry)-Kerala in partnership with Ministry of Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy), and with the support of Ayurveda Medical Association of India (AMAI), Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturers Organisation in India (AMMOI) and Ayurveda Hospital Management Association (AHMA).
It is also supported by the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) in the United States (US), Association of Swiss Ayurveda Doctors and Therapists in Switzerland, Association for Ayurvedic Medicine in the Netherlands.

Malaysia Day

Malaysia Day is a public holiday held on 16 September every year to commemorate the establishment of the Malaysian federation on the same date in 1963.
This event saw the union of Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak, and Singapore into a single state.

International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer

September 16 was designated by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
This designation had been made on December 19, 2000, in commemoration of the date, in 1987, on which nations signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.

Engineer's Day (India)

The country celebrates Engineer's Day on September 15 to appreciate the contributions of eminent engineer Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya who was born on September 15, 1861 in a village called Muddenahalli in Karnataka. He had studied Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Madras and pursued civil engineering at the College of Science in Pune.
Visvesvaraya's career spanned over 34 years with his first job as an assistant engineer in the Public Works Department of the Government of Bombay. He later joined the Mysore service as chief engineer and had contributed to several technical projects in Hyderabad, Mysore, Maharashtra and Odisha.
Among some of his contributions include the block system of irrigation in the Deccan canals in 1899, irrigation system with water floodgates at the Khadakvasla reservoir. The irrigation system was later installed at Gwalior's Tigra Dam and Mysuru's Krishnaraja Sagara (KRS) dam, the latter of which created one of the largest reservoirs in Asia at the time.

International Day of Democracy

In 2007 the United Nations General Assembly resolved to observe 15 September as the International Day of Democracy, with the purpose of promoting and upholding the principles of democracy, and invited all member states and organizations to commemorate the day in an appropriate manner that contributes to raising public awareness.
The International Day of Democracy provides an opportunity to review the state of democracy in the world. Democracy is as much a process as a goal, and only with the full participation of and support by the international community, national governing bodies, civil society and individuals, can the ideal of democracy be made into a reality to be enjoyed by everyone, everywhere.
Every year International Day of Democracy has a theme and the theme for 2020 is "COVID-19: A Spotlight on Democracy."
Every Country is implementing measures to fight this pandemic. It is also important that the countries uphold the rule of law, protect and respect international standards and basic principles of legality, and the right to access justice, remedies, and due process of law.

Hindi Diwas

Hindi Diwas is celebrated on the 14th September, to commemorate the adoption of Hindi in Devanagari script as one of the official language of India. Hindi was adopted as one of the two official languages of the Republic of India by Constituent Assembly of India thanks to the efforts of Beohar Rajendra Simha along with Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Kaka Kalelkar, Maithili Sharan Gupt and Seth Govind Das. As such, on the 50th birthday of Beohar Rajendra Simha on the 14th September 1949, the efforts came to fruition following the adoption of Hindi as an official language. This decision was ratified by the Constitution of India that came into effect on the 26th of January 1950. Under Article 343 of the Indian Constitution, Hindi written in Devanagari script (a script that is used by over 120 languages) was adopted as the official language (of a country with a history of rich linguistic diversity). In all, there are 22 Scheduled languages of India, of which, two are officially used at Union level: Hindi and English. Hindi and related languages is spoken by more than 322 million L1 speakers and 270 million L2 speakers .
Many programs are organised on Hindi Day for the promotion and promotion of Hindi. On this day, many cultural programs are also organized in schools and colleges. On 14th September 1953, Hindi Day was celebrated in the country for the first time.

Patriot Day

In the United States, Patriot Day occurs on September 11 of each year in memory of the people killed in the September 11 attacks of the year 2001.
A bill to make September 11 a national day of mourning was introduced in the U.S. House on October 25, 2001, by Rep. Vito Fossella (R-NY) with 22 co-sponsors. The result was the resolution to proclaim September 11, 2002, as the first Patriot Day.
