National Pollution Control Day

National Pollution Control Day is observed on 2nd December every year. The day is observed as a national pollution control day to commemorate the lives of the people who died in the Bhopal gas tragedy in 1984. Nagaland Celebrates its 59th Statehood Day

Nagaland celebrated its 59th Statehood Day on December 1, 2021. Nagaland was granted statehood on December 1, 1963, with Kohima being declared as its capital. Prior to this, Naga leaders and the central government reached an agreement to create a separate region of the Naga Hills in 1957. The State of Nagaland Act, 1962, was thus enacted by the Parliament to give Nagaland statehood.
According to the Article 371-A, no act of Parliament would apply to the State of Nagaland in a matter relating to religious or social practices of Nagas, Naga customary law and procedure, administration of civil or criminal justice involving decisions according to Naga customary law and ownership and transfer of land and its resources. Nagaland is the first state in the northeast to be bifurcated from Assam as the 16th State of the Indian Union.

World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, designated on 1 December every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease. Government and health officials, non-governmental organizations, and individuals around the world observe the day, often with education on AIDS prevention and control.
World AIDS Day was first conceived in August 1987 by James W. Bunn and Thomas Netter, two public information officers for the Global Programme on AIDS at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. Bunn and Netter took their idea to Dr. Jonathan Mann, Director of the Global Programme on AIDS (now known as UNAIDS). Mann liked the concept, approved it, and agreed with the recommendation that the first observance of World AIDS Day should be on 1 December 1988.

BSF Celebrates 57th Raising Day

The Border Security Force (BSF) celebrated its 57th Raising Day on December 1, 2021. BSF was formed on December 1, 1965 as a unified central agency after the Indo-Pak and India-China wars for ensuring the security of the borders of India and for matters connected therewith. It is one of the five Central Armed Police Forces of the Union of India and stands as the world's largest border guarding force. BSF has been termed as the First Line of Defence of Indian Territories.

Cherry Blossom Festival 2021 Celebrated in Meghalaya

The three-day Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2021 was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma, and Ambassador of Japan to India, Satoshi Suzuki. It was celebrated from November 25 to 27. The festival was held in two venues, Ward's Lake and Polo Grounds in Meghalaya. The annual festival coincides with the actual blooming of the cherry blossom flowers. It is also known as the Prunus Cerasoides, these flowers underline the Himalayas and cover the east and west Khasi Hills.

International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is an UN-organized day held every year on November 29. The day aims to educate the public on the question of Palestine and support a peaceful settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is observed to mark the anniversary of resolution 181, wherein the Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine on November 29, 1947.
In 1977, the General Assembly called for the annual observance of 29 November as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. On that day, in 1947, the Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine. This date, which was chosen because of its meaning and significance to the Palestinian people, is based on the call by the United Nations General Assembly for an annual observance of the resolution on the partition of Palestine.

13th ASEM Summit

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu led the Indian delegation at the two-day ASEM summit held virtually.
The ASEM or Asia-Europe Meeting is a platform for the countries in Asia and Europe to exchange views on regional and global issues and strengthen cooperation in a wide range of areas.
The grouping comprises 51 member countries and two regional organisations — the European Union and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The countries in the grouping represent 65% of the global GDP, 60% of the global population, 75% of global tourism and 55% of global trade.
The theme of the 13th ASEM summit was "strengthening multilateralism for shared growth".
The summit also marked the 25th anniversary of the ASEM process.
The summit was hosted by Cambodia in its capacity as the current chair of the grouping.
The ASEM agenda for 2021 prioritised issues related to strengthening multilateralism, post-pandemic socio-economic recovery and development as well as other regional and global issues of common interest and concern.

National Milk Day of India

Every year November 26 is celebrated as National Milk Day in India. The day is being observed since 2014 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Father of India's White Revolution, Dr. Verghese Kurien. He is also nicknamed as "Milkman of India".
The National Milk Day is observed with the objective of providing information regarding the need and importance of milk in human's life.
Dr. Verghese Kurien is known as the 'Father of the White Revolution in India. He was a social entrepreneur. He led Operation Flood, which is the largest agricultural dairy development programme worldwide. This operation made India the largest milk producer of the world, from a milk-deficient country.

Constitution Day

Constitution Day, also known as National Law Day, is observed annually on 26 November to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. The Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India on 26 November, 1949, and it came into force on 26 January 1950, which is celebrated in the country as Republic Day.
