Manipur Celebrated Khongjom Day at Khongjom War Memorial Complex

  • In Manipur, rich tributes were paid to the brave sons of the state who made supreme sacrifice fighting against the British to protect the freedom of Manipur in the battle of Khongjom during the 1891 Anglo-Manipuri War.
  • The state-level Khongjom Day celebration was held at Khongjom War Memorial Complex at Khebaching of Thoubal district in which Governor La Ganesan and Chief Minister N. Biren Singh were present along with the public. Manipur celebrates the Khongjom Day every year on 23rd of April remembering Manipuri warriors including Major Paona Brajabashi who fought against the British.

World Malaria Day

  • World Malaria Day is celebrated every year on 25 April to raise awareness about the disease malaria, how to control it and how to eradicate it completely. In 2008, the first Malaria Day was celebrated, which was developed from Africa Malaria Day, which was an event observed since 2001 by the African governments. At the 60th session of the World Health Assembly in 2007, it was proposed that Africa Malaria Day be changed to World Malaria Day.
  • The theme this year is - "Harness innovation to reduce the malaria disease burden and save lives."

National Panchayati Raj Day

  • National Panchayati Raj Day is celebrated every year on 24 April in India. The Constitution (73rd Amendment) Act, 1992 that came into force with effect from 24th April, 1993 has vested constitutional status on Panchayati Raj institutions. This date thus marks a defining moment in the history of decentralization of political power to the grassroots level.
  • In 2010 the first National Panchayati Raj Day was celebrated. Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh declared the first National Panchayati Raj Day on 24 April 2010.

  • Celebrating Earth Day (April 22), National Geographic announced the launch of its one-of-its-kind initiative titled One for Change. Through this initiative, the channel will showcase a series of short films, spotlighting the exceptional stories of change-makers who have taken extraordinary steps to make our world a better place.
  • In addition, National Geographic will also support the initiative by featuring the films and encouraging millions of its viewers to walk the path of change.

World Creativity and Innovation Day

  • World Creativity and Innovation Day is celebrated on April 21 every year. The day aims to raise awareness about the importance of creativity and innovation in problem-solving and encourage creative multidisciplinary thinking at the individual and group levels. The World Creativity and Innovation Week is also observed from April 15-21.
  • The theme of World Creativity and Innovation Day 2022: Collaboration
  • World Creativity and Innovation Day (WCID) was founded on 25 May 2001 in Toronto, Canada. The founder of the day was the Canadian Marci Segal. Segal was studying creativity in 1977 at the International Center for Studies in Creativity.

National Civil Service Day

  • Every year on 21 April Civil Service Day is celebrated to rededicate and recommit themselves to the cause of the people. On this day Civil servants from various parts of the country come together, share their experiences and also learn about others' experiences of working in the public sector.
  • The reason behind choosing this very date was to commemorate the day when the first Home Minister of Independent India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, addressed the probationers of Administrative Services Officers in 1947 at Metcalf House, Delhi. There he referred to civil servants as the 'steel frame of India'. This meant that civil servants, employed at various levels of the government, act as supporting pillars of the country's administrative system.
