International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies

The International Day of Clean Air for blue skies is commemorated annually on September 7 in recognition of the fact that clean air is important for the health and day-to-day lives of people, while air pollution is the single greatest environmental risk to human health and one of the main avoidable causes of death and disease globally.
On November 26, 2019, the Second Committee of the 74th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly adopted a resolution designating September 7 as the International Day of Clean Air for blue skies. The resolution stresses the importance of, and urgent need to, raise public awareness at all levels and to promote and facilitate actions to improve air quality.
The theme for International Day of Clean Air for blue skies 2023 is 'Together for Clean Air'. The theme aims to highlight the urgent need for stronger partnerships, increased investment, and shared responsibility for overcoming air pollution.

Brazilian Independence Day

Brazil celebrates Independence Day on September 7 — or as they say in Brazil — Sete de Setembro' The Regent Prince, Dom Pedro, son of the Portuguese king, Dom João VI, was authorized to rule if the king either died or returned to Portugal. Upon his father's return to Portugal in 1821, Dom Pedro took over, eventually declaring allegiance with Brazil. Brazilian independence was officially proclaimed on September 22, 1822 (although now Independence Day is celebrated on September 7).

International Day of Police Cooperation

The International Day of Police Cooperation is a United Nations observance held annually on September 7. It was created to commemorate the founding of Interpol and highlight the role of law enforcement from around the globe in maintaining peace, security, and justice. The world's first initiative for international law enforcement cooperation was the Police Union of German States, established in 1851. It brought together secret police forces from various German-speaking countries.
The United Nations General Assembly designated September 7 as the International Day of Police Cooperation during its 77th session in December 2022. The inaugural celebration took place on September 7, 2023, coinciding with the 100th founding anniversary of Interpol. It focused on the crucial role of women in policing.

International Day of Charity

International Day of Charity is celebrated every year on September 5. The day was established by the United Nations with an intention to promote and encourage charity and philanthropy across the globe. It also commemorates the death anniversary of Mother Teresa – a Noble Prize winner for her heroic acts of kindness, charity, and struggle against poverty.
The International Day of Charity was conceived as a Hungarian civil society initiative supported by the Hungarian Parliament and Government in 2011, to enhance visibility, organize special events, and in this way to increase solidarity, social responsibility and public support for charity.
September 5 was chosen in order to commemorate the anniversary of the passing away of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constitute a threat to peace.
On December 17, 2012, in response to a proposal by Hungary, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution by consensus to designate September 5 as the International Day of Charity.
The theme for International Day of Charity 2023 is 'Global Solidarity to End Poverty'.

Teachers' Day (India)

Teachers' Day in India is celebrated every year on September 5 to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was a former President of India, scholar, philosopher and Bharat Ratna recipient.
The first Teachers' Day in India was marked on September 5, 1962, which was his 77th birthday.
The theme for Teacher's Day 2023 is 'Teachers at the heart of education recovery'.

World Coconut Day

Every year, September 2 is celebrated as World Coconut Day. The day came about following an initiative by the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community (APCC) headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia. The organisation's members account for over 90 percent of the total coconut production in the world. Some of the members of the APCC include India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Kenya and others.
The APCC was formed in 1969 in order to support Asian countries to grow, produce, sell and export coconuts. The earlier member countries were only Asian and African and Pacific countries later joined the organisation.
In 2009, the APCC decided to mark September 2 as World Coconut Day to promote awareness about the coconut fruit.
The theme of World Coconut Day 2023 is 'Sustaining Coconut Sector for the Present and Future Generation.'

National Nutrition Week

National Nutrition Week (NNW) is observed annually in India from September 1 to 7. This dedicated week aims to raise awareness among people about the vital role of nutrition and the significance of cultivating healthy eating habits.
Throughout National Nutrition Week, several seminars, workshops, educational programmes, conferences, and public awareness campaigns are organised across the country.
Back in 1975, the American Dietetic Association — now called the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics — started National Nutrition Week.
In India, National Nutrition Week was first celebrated in 1982. The government launched various initiatives to encourage, inform and teach people about healthy eating and how it's connected to staying healthy and living longer.

World Sanskrit Day

World Sanskrit Day, also referred to as International Sanskrit Day, Sanskrit Diwas and Vishwa Samskrita Dinam is observed on the day of Shravana Poornima in the Hindu calendar, which is also marked as Raksha Bandhan, which coincides with the moon. This year (2023) Sanskrit Diwas is celebrated on August 31. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness and promote Sanskrit, one of India's oldest languages. Sanskrit holds importance as it serves as the foundation, for classical texts in disciplines such, as Literature, Philosophy, Mathematics and Science.
World Sanskrit Day has a history that can be traced back, to 1969. It was during this year that the Indian Government decided to honor and celebrate the contributions of Pāṇini, a figure, in the realm of Sanskrit language and linguistics. The declaration was made to commemorate Pāṇinis work on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Since then this special day has been. Celebrated by Sanskrit scholars and enthusiasts worldwide.
