Defence Cyber Agency Begins Exercise to Bolster Cyber Resilience at National Level

  • A comprehensive cyber security exercise designed to simulate 'real-world cyber threats' and with an aim to bolster resilience in the domain at the national level kicked off.
  • 'Cyber Suraksha' is organised by Defence Cyber Agency under the aegis of Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff.
  • This multi-phased exercise, which concludes on June 27, is a proactive step towards bolstering cyber resilience at national level, and encompasses the conduct of targeted training sessions, evaluation and an engaging capsule for leadership.
  • Over 100 participants from national-level agencies and stakeholders from defence domains are taking part in the event.

Fifth FPV 'Achal' Built by Goa Shipyard Ltd Launched for ICG

  • The Indian Coast Guard's fleet received a significant boost with the launch of 'Achal', the fifth in a series of eight Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) being built by Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) under a Rs. 473 crore contract.
  • The vessel was launched at the GSL facility in Goa in the presence of Additional Director General Anil Kumar Harbola, Coast Guard Commander (Western Seaboard). The event was attended by top officials from the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, and GSL, including GSL Chairman and Managing Director Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay.

Operation Rising Lion: Israel Targets Iranian Nuclear Sites in Escalated Strikes

  • In pre-dawn strikes termed Operation Rising Lion, dozens of Israeli jets launched a sweeping aerial assault across Iranian territory, hitting multiple high-value nuclear and military targets. Chief among them was Iran's principal uranium enrichment site at Natanz.
  • In a sudden escalation of hostilities between the two countries, Iranan also confirmed the death of Major General Hossein Salami, chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in what it called "a direct assassination by Zionist forces."

Sunil Kumar Jha New Director General, Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards

  • Senior IPS officer Sunil Kumar Jha, currently serving as Special Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), was appointed as Director General, Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards. He is a 1993 batch IPS officer of the Bihar cadre.
  • Jha will assume charge on July 1, succeeding incumbent DG Vivek Srivastava, a 1989-batch IPS officer of the Gujarat cadre, who retires on June 30.

Indian Army Participates in Exercise Khaan Quest 2025 in Mongolia (15)

  • A 40-member Indian Army contingent is in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, participating in the 22nd edition of Exercise Khaan Quest, a multinational peacekeeping military exercise being held from June 14 to 28. The exercise aims to boost interoperability and operational readiness among the participating nations' armed forces for peacekeeping missions under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.

Indian and the UK Navies Conclude Exercise PASSEX 2025

  • The Indian Navy conducted a high-tempo Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the United Kingdom's Carrier Strike Group in the strategic North Arabian Sea.
  • The exercise, which concluded on June 10, featured Indian naval assets including the stealth frigate INS Tabar, a submarine, and the long-range maritime patrol aircraft P-8I. The UK's naval contingent included HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Richmond.
  • The exercise highlighted advanced operational coordination and interoperability between the two forces. With synchronised tactical manoeuvres and unified helicopter control operations, both navies demonstrated their readiness and high-end combat capabilities.

Army Successfully Tests Rudrastra

  • India took a significant leap in defence technology with the successful test of Rudrastra, an indigenous hybrid vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), developed by Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited.
  • The test was conducted at the Pokhran Field Firing Range in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer.
  • During the trial, Rudrastra demonstrated strong operational performance by covering a mission radius of over 50 km while maintaining a stable real-time video link, and successfully returning to its original launch point.
