'Dosti': Trilateral Coast Guard Exercise by India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka

India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka held the 15th edition of the biennial trilateral coast guard exercise 'Dosti', in the Maldives.
Year 2021 marked the 30th year of Dosti Trilateral Coast Guard Exercise.
During the five-day exercise, Indian Coast Guard vessels namely ICGS Apoorva & ICGS Vajra joined Sri Lanka Coast Guard vessel named SLCGS Suraksha.
The tri-lateral exercise 'Dosti' was organised with the aim to further fortify the friendship, to build cooperation between Coast guards of three countries and to enhance mutual operational capability & exercise interoperability. This exercise is significant for India because Maldives & Sri Lanka are of strategic importance to India & its maritime security interests.
The Dosti Coast Guard Exercise was first launched in 1991. These exercises were bilateral earlier, involving Indian coast guard and Maldives Coast Guards. Sri Lanka joined these exercises in 2012 for the first time. Since then, it has become trilateral exercise.

Indian Naval Ship Undertakes Coordinated Patrol with Indonesian Vessel

An Indian naval ship held a two-day coordinated patrol with an Indonesian vessel in the Indian Ocean amid growing concern over China's increasing maritime forays into the region.
The coordinated patrol (CORPAT) highlighted the mutual trust, synergy and cooperation between the two friendly Navies.
Indian Navy deployed indigenously built Missile Corvette Khanjar along with Dornier maritime patrol aircraft for the coordinated patrol with Indonesian ship KRI Sultan Thaha Syaifuddin, a Kapitan Patimura-class Corvette.
The 37th edition of CORPAT between India and Indonesia also witnessed participation of maritime patrol aircraft from both nations.
India and Indonesia have been carrying out CORPAT along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) twice a year since 2002, with an aim of keeping the Indian Ocean Region safe and secure for commercial shipping and international trade.

Indian Navy Commission Submarine INS Vela

The Indian Navy commissioned INS Vela, its fourth stealth Scorpene class submarine under Project 75, an induction that will boost its combat capability. Project 75 includes construction of six submarines of Scorpene design.
Three of these submarines - Kalvari, Khanderi, Karanj - have already been commissioned.
The submarine has been built by Mumbai-based Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd in collaboration with M/s Naval Group of France.
The previous avatar of INS Vela was commissioned on August 31, 1973 and it rendered yeoman service to the nation for 37 eventful years before being decommissioned on June 25, 2010.

French and Indian Navies Conduct Drill Off Western Coast

French air defence frigate Chevalier Paul completed a two-day naval drill with Indian Navy missile destroyer INS Kolkata off India's western coast.
The two-day drill, on November 22 and 23, included air defence, anti-submarine warfare (hunting a target with the help of a P8 patrol aircraft) and anti-ship warfare (live firing of shots against a floating target and simulation of coordinating anti-ship missile firing).
The two sides also shared a very positive assessment of the results, which confirmed the plug and fight capacity achieved by the two navies.

Mega Multi-agency Military Exercise Conducted in Kutch

India's combat capability and readiness to confront any multi-dimensional security threat was elaborately tested at a four-day mega military exercise conducted in the Creek sector of the Kutch peninsula. The Sagar Shakti exercise, held from November 19 to 22, witnessed participation of the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, Border Security Force, Gujarat Police and the Marine Police.
The high-intensity exercise was organised by the Indian Army's Southern Command and its primary aim was to test the combat readiness of the agencies in a real-time scenario.

Southern Command Launches Military Exercise

Pune-based Southern Command launched a military exercise in Rajasthan and Gujarat. Named 'Dakshin Shakti', the exercise with troops aims to validate the battle readiness and operational effectiveness of troops of Southern Army in an integrated and futuristic battlefield scenario.
The exercise is conducted against the backdrop of the soon to emerge Integrated Theatre Commands that give major emphasis on tri-service integrated operations.

Navy Commission INS Visakhapatnam

INS Visakhapatnam was formally commissioned into the Indian Navy in the presence of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.
INS Visakhapatnam is a P15B stealth-guided missile destroyer. It is indigenously designed by the Indian Navy's in-house organisation Directorate of Naval Design and constructed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Mumbai.
Visakhapatnam class ships, built with indigenous steel, are follow-on of the Kolkata class destroyers commissioned in the last decade. Designed by Directorate of Naval Design and built by M/s Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd, Mumbai. The four ships are named after major cities of the country, viz. Visakhapatnam, Mormugao, Imphal and Surat.
