In Manipur, the Indian Army opens a coaching center for poor pupils
The Indian Army started providing residential tutoring to children from economically disadvantaged and deprived areas of the northeast to prepare them for all-India competitive tests such as engineering and medical admission.
The Indian Army's Red Shield Division has inked a tripartite Memorandum of understanding with enterprise partner State Bank of India Foundation and mentoring partner National Integrity and Educational Development Organization to develop the Red Shield Centre for Excellence and Wellness.
According to the GOC Red Shield Division, the Indian Army has stayed at the forefront of nation building and has consistently contributed across a wide range of disciplines, particularly in the area of young empowerment.
Deployment of INS Gharial to Seychelles - Mission Sagar IX
Following up on the proposal received from the Govt of Seychelles , three ceremonial Saluting Guns, with ammunition, were delivered by the Ship to the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF). These were formally presented by Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag (Retd), High Commissioner of India to Seychelles to Brigadier Michael Rosette, the Chief of Defence (CDF), SDF in a solemn ceremony held onboard INS Gharial.
INS Gharial also transshipped one 15 m Wave Rider Patrol Boat, sourced by Seychelles from Colombo and was handed over to Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF). During the stay of the Ship at Seychelles, the Indian Navy facilitated training of SDF personnel in domain specific maritime disciplines.

IAF Test-fires Extended-range BrahMos from Sukhoi Fighter
Six years after India was inducted into the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR), the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully fired the maiden "extended range" version of the BrahMos air-launched missile from Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft. The missile achieved a direct hit on the designated target in the Bay of Bengal region.
The "extended range' version means the missile can travel a distance farther than 300 km. Before India joined the MTCR, the Russian technology of the BrahMos was restricted as the MTCR limits the export of missile technology which can travel beyond 300 kilometres.
Sukhoi jets fitted with existing version of Brahmos (300-km range) are based at Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu and are mandated for a maritime role guarding the sea lane of communication.

N. Venu Gopal is Joint Director of CBI, Supriya Patil Yadav DIG
The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) issued an order appointing senior IPS officers N. Venu Gopal and Supriya Patil Yadav as Joint Director (JD) and Deputy Inspector General (DIG), respectively, in the CBI. Gopal, a 1995-batch IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre was inducted as JD for five years.
Yadav, a 2004-batch IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre, was appointed as the DIG on lateral shift basis from Intelligence Bureau for the remaining period of her deputation, which is up to April 17, 2024 (eight years). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the tenure extension of Anurag, IPS officer of Tripura cadre, for six more months as Joint Director in the CBI.

Indian Navy to Acquire Spy Satellite GISAT-2 to Boost Capability in IOR
The Indian Navy plans to purchase a specialised earth imaging satellite Geo Imaging Satellite-2 (GISAT-2), in 2022-23 as part of its modernisation and network-centric combat and communications programme. The satellite is likely to improve the navy's operating capabilities in the Indian Ocean region, which is strategically and geopolitically crucial, especially given China's growing influence.
According to information from the Ministry of Defence, the GISAT-2 is one of 21 planned procurements, including several long-term buys. In addition, the navy's capabilities development/modernization is being carried out in line with the long-term objectives in place for the next decade.

MHA Launches 'CAPF Punarvaas' to Facilitate Retired CAPF
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) launched a portal for the benefit of personnel belonging to the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) like CRPF and BSF seeking re-employment after their retirement. The portal, "CAPF Punarvaas", will help retired personnel seeking re-employment to find an appropriate match by uploading their personal details on the Welfare & Rehabilitation Board (WARB) along with their area of expertise and preferred employment location.
With the increase in the number of business establishments requiring security services, there has been a substantial growth of private security agencies (PSA), thereby increasing the requirement of security personnel. The initiative is a step towards the welfare of CAPF personnel and will go a long way in meeting their rehabilitation requirements.
